Argh. I love Murav’yeva… but why? You are right though, that’s what AoP are giving everyone this season. Maybe low expectations?

Ugh... Well, I remember Sofia's Gatsby music was originally suggested by Leonid Sviridenko but he is gone now, so maybe non-warhorses are the exception rather than the norm? Or else maybe R&J is supposed to be her rite of passage into seniors...

Eh, they had plenty of interesting choices even without Leonid last season, I just feel like Plushenko really likes his warhorses because they remind him of the time he was at his peak as a figure skater
It's also possible Sofia wanted R&J, it's definitely very popular amongst young (female) skaters.
That made me groan. Ugh. Sofia M has such sophisticated skating skills, she could really handle something unusual and interesting. Jazz, Modern, Tano.

I do think so too, it's just that warhorse music tends to cause comparisons between the skaters who used them which can become very ugly quite quickly - Especially because Sofia M has already been ridiculed amongst certain circles of skating fans, with some even insulting her appearance.
Also, of course, people tend to get annoyed at hearing the same music over and over again, but at least R&J offers a wide variety of enjoyable pieces of music to choose from, some of which haven't been used very often in skating.
Remember when?
I predict in 10, 20 and 50 years we'll be still recalling this immortal trio.
Really all three of them, (Sasha/Aliona/Anya) much like the Mao/Yuna years.
Sport doesn't stand still, so there will be better technically and artistically skaters in the future, but I don't think we will witness three phenoms entering the stage at the same time, revolutionizing the sport and occupying every single national and international podium like them soon.
And their careers are far from over, they are just taking a deep breath as they deserve
Its a safe choice. First senior season she needs to establish her pcs. They are using the same approach as they did with Trusova. Trusova needed to revive her image as an artisitic skater so they gave her R&J, a warhorse associated with artistic skates. Sofia needs to up her skating reputation in Russia. There doesnt seems to be a lot of brains going on in AoP.
Considering she is Plushenko only senior lady, he will put a lot more focus on her. Sofia needs a reasonable team to cultivate her talent. Lets hope Plushenko doesnt go back to the shenanigans he did when coaching Trusova with his thumbs down and stuff
In a way, circumstances work to their favor. (Working hard here to avoid the verbotten subject). In normal times they would start to take a back seat to the new generation. (The three Sofias' Veronika,etc.) Instead, they are very much still in the forefront with opportunities galore, AND, all three-despite medical setbacks for two of them-seem to be enjoying the fruits of their labors and making bank. I suspect the Chinese tour will happen when China drops restrictions-they seem to have a huge fan base there-primarily China wants Anna and Sasha, but wouldn't be surprised to see Kamila added in as well, maybe Aliona, and the pay for this might be huge. (If the China tour happens, just waiting to see how Sasha makes sure Mark has a role as well. lol).

Well, Sasha has already rightly won the Russian National title. It just needs to be awarded to her as it should.What could Shcherbakova teach? How to defeat in olímpics and world championship a skater with 5 quads, maybe
However I wish Sasha has time to win a big title or at least the Russian championship, at the end it's the hardest championship

I think Sofia will do justice to this piece of music? It's overused yes! When it's skated well with the right skater who has great interpretation and skating skills I think it's possible to completely transcend the music. Thinking here of Marin Honda's Romeo and Juliet back in 2017 and Aliona Kostornaia's in 2018, both are still stunningly beautiful programs.

Unfortunately in Russia to do that I think she's going to need a triple axel or a quad, or some people to retire or become unreliable with their quads/triple axels

Do you mean triple axel and a quad? Because Sofia has a 3A, which is somewhat consistent (by somewhat, I mean that she's never fallen on it and never gotten any rotation calls).

Unfortunately, that's not just about warhorse music... It's hard to see how much hate Alina Gorbacheva gets from Russian Trusova fans for using Cruella music. She said she chose this music back in 2020-2021 but they don't believe her. They blame Alina for the same music cut/pieces and say her choreo also looks like Trusova's moves... But actually I liked Alina's program so I hope she won't read those comments and will keep skating this program as she wants.
