Apparently a Russian- Chinese Olympic event is being planned, including figure skating. December 2022 seems ambitious though

Question: Will the Russian cup be shown on Channel 1's youtube channel or will I need a VPN to watch the Channel 1 page? And, does anybody have a time schedule?

Congratulations to KV and SA for setting the bar high at the Grand Prix event. They are so good with such massive upsides.

I am concerned about Anna continuing her career. I know she had knee surgery but she seems to have morphed into soft retirement like Alina did. I guess it's a life of photoshoots and interviews and and starring roles for Anna now. But I sure hope she comes back to continue competitive skating next year even if she can't get her quads back.

People are going to keep saying she will come back just they they did with Alina and Evgenia. But I just dont see returning. She was hanging onto a thread last season and almost didnt make it onto the olympic team. She landed 2 icky quads but we all know Kamila would have won if not for the doping. I'm indifferent on whether Trusova should have won but over her but good on Anna for peaking when it mattered. All that was on an Eteri ideal stick body. Now her physique has changed. She looks like a healthy 18 yrs old teen. The fact she was grown more and not living on 3 shrimps a day means she probably already decided on hanging up her boots. In fact it is probably the end of the 3A. Alena is definetely done and Alexandra is distracted by her lover boyfriend and she has injuries problem too.

There is no way Shcherbakova is coming back this season. If she did it would be with very simple programs with no chance of medalling even in the GP events. She's a minimum of several months away from being in optimal competition shape.

If she did attempt a comeback for next season it would be 18 months out of competition by the time she skates again.

Akateva showed today she's not far away from Shcherbakova at her best, and I assume will only improve.

This is shaping up as a great season. The level of competition is deep in Russia and never been closer.

If Russia are back in international competitions one day, I'd like to see these GP events continue in Russia. The world championship can be a "Super Bowl" of sorts at the end of the season the Russian division vs the Rest of the World division.

Kami and Sofia did amazing. Very proud of these wonderful girls.

Akateva after Sasha has the most ultra-c attempts out of all the ladies so it makes sense that her ultra-c jumps end up the most consistent when her nerves are calm (her 3A in the free was much more calm than her short. Very smooth and effortless. Maybe she's still getting used to not having to add the 3T in the short but it's works solo in the free for the second time in a row this season. The same thing happened at test skates. Fell in short but landed in free. It might be a block or something for the short).

With her stability and free skate comebacks she will probably be the successor of Shcherbakova if she does not return. Anna does not seem to be competing anytime soon as she is prioritizing her healing right now and on ice age. I agree that Sofia is very close to her top form and will only improve if she maintains her health. She did not attempt her 4S today so it may not yet be restored.

Kami's 4T is not yet stable but I think it'll get there maybe by her next GP. Sofia's and Kami's performances were the highlights of the competition for me. Very beautiful performances.

Alina G also had beautiful qualities for me but too many errors interrupted the flow of the program. Hopefully she has a nice clean skate next time.

I think Kami gets her 4T back for competitions she usually has a lot of margin on it and it's a very safe jump. I'm sure I read she jumped the 4T in warm up. It was a heavy fall for her. To see her comeback from a heavy fall at the start after how it spiralled out of control in the free skate of the Olympics was pleasing. She has nerves of steel and will put up a solid score that will take beating at the Russian Nationals. Odds are in the favour that either Petrosyan or Akateva will put together two clean skates with ultra c in the Russian Nationals so gold will tough for Kami, but I think she will be there fighting for medals for years to come. Her presentation will only improve if anything. The new age rules help her a lot too so she might be around for 2030 possibly.

She's obviously gained more weight in a good, healthy way and developed a woman's body. The positive part of all this is I don't think her body is going to change too much from here on out and she's showing she can compete with the best in the world (which is probably Akateva based on her free skate).

What savage competition the Russian ladies have.
Anna takes off for injury, but here comes Sofia.

They can’t even exhale before someone is breathing down their neck.

Sofia took a big step forward today. This potential Sofia v Kamila rivalry that’s brewing has the makings of a legendary one.

Anna's icky quads? The 4 - 3 she hit to start her legendary free skate at the Olympics set the stage for gold. Yes the controversy hurt KV but skating last at the Olympics after sasha Kaori and Anna did their career best would have put massive pressure on her anyway. Alina was very fortunate she skated 3rd to last at her Olympics. if she had the skate after Evgenia the pressure would have been totally different. I'm pretty sure KV would have liked to have skated 3rd from last at this Olympics.
