Compulsory Dance

I'm so glad it's not the Yankee Polka anymore. They used that for so many competitions this season I was becoming sick of it..

Oh, yeah, you can. 3 is about my limit......

I was wondering about this one myself -- Kimberly Navarro said something at 4Cs about how she was bummed that she and Brent B. wouldn't be able to do the YP anymore this season and I was a little confused because I thought they were going to Worlds so they'd have one more chance to do it.

The CD for Worlds will be either the Argentine Tango or the Austrian Waltz. According to the rules, it cannot be the CD that was done at Euros and 4CC.

So there probably won't be another Yankee Polka at the Senior level for several years.

I LOVE the Yankee Polka... it's such a fun dance!

Midnight Blues - that one will kill me if I ever have to hear it again!

the top 3 teams:
dom/sha
del/sch:cool:
bel/ago

will be insanely close...they are all marvelous tango performers.

...can not forget that overtime straight-line lift from last year's world OD from del/sch....id they did that successfully....they could've won 3rd...

Argentinian...hmmm didn't dub/lau do one last year? Marie wearing that hideous feathered outfit...?

I think Dubreuil/Lauzon did the ballroom style of the tango.
Any CD would've favored both D/S teams anyway, who are superior compulsory dancers to the rest of the field. Most of Igor's teams do better in the other two segments. From the GP, the top Argentinean tango scores were:

38.96 Delobel & Schoenfelder NHK
38.77 Domnina & Shabalin CoC
35.89 Belbin & Agosto CoC
34.67 Virtue & Moir NHK
34.23 Khokhlova & Novitski NHK
31.79 Kerr & Kerr NHK
30.81 Zaretski & Zaretski CoC
29.85 Fraser & Lukanin NHK
28.25 Navarro & Bommentre NHK

The Tango, imo, works on ice skates. The Waltz is the founding dance on skates. (Praise to be it is not a Carribbean Dance which most skaters think is a polka and shaking their booties).

I like the Argentine but I was hoping for the Austrian Waltz since that one is my favorite CD. If it's possible to have a favorite CD.

I'm definitely tango-d out myself. On the bright side, I have heard that V&M like the Argentine. And Belgosto like it quite well.
