I had the privilege of waving this beautiful banner (made by our very own Vilya). Vilya, you are so talented!View attachment 5835

I'm so happy to see the banner at competition 😍 Glad you like it!! It was fun to make 🥰🥰

Shoma worked hard and really gave us wonderful programs ❤️ A great start to the season! So much good, but also a lot of things to take home and improve. And a lot of wonderful content for us to admire before the next competition 😍
Looking forward to the puppy reunion! 🐶

I say keep Gravity. Shoma has shown several times previously how much speed and attack he has. He doesn't need to do that for every routine. World champions should push the sport in a different direction and Shoma is doing EXACTLY that in his SP. There is the potential, with its languid style, that Shoma could break his PCS record. Gravity all the way!!

Do you think he should keep Gravity for his short? I know so many are used to big, energetic (and sometimes more fun or quirky) pieces for his short. I like that he's putting on a clinic in skating skills, but I'm kind of torn. I like the languid, jazzy feel to Gravity. There's a poll here on GS about which program be should use for the short, and I think "Padam Padam" is way ahead in the poll.
I'm all in for the program but I do not like the song Gravity in any way, shape or form but Shoma chose it so it is what it is. The program is stunning so sometimes I just watch it without the music. I adore his long program, music and all.

Oops -- accidentally posted this in the Padam Padam thread! Yikes, I'm brain dead still...This should be fun! I see Manager San is there, so hopefully we'll get good translations from him.

On Gravity:

- I love the color of the costume A LOT. It's mature and I love Shoma in jewel tones. Design-wise there's not much to say about them (I love the detail of the collar being black lace though). But I think a fitted silhouette fits the program better than the suit as well as the satin shirts. I wish the design is more sophisticated, but I also have no idea how that will look like. Maybe open more buttons....? I'm happy it's not all-black.

- I like the different choreographic style as well as sensibility that this program has, which I don't think Shoma has ever done in competition before. (Closest to it is probably Time After Time). I think the program gives Shoma an opportunity to improve aspects of his performance, which is already great but is being challenged by the laidback nature of this program. It's just not a traditional competitive program, and to me that's what a World Champion should do- explore styles and genres that's not the obvious choice and figure things out. This program just burns internally and is sultry and sensual and languid. That's not usually how a competitive program should be- competitive programs for me try to highlight the skaters' strengths and make sure the judges see all the flourishes and star moments. Gravity isn't that in-your-face, but the challenge for Shoma here is to improve his clarity of movement for this particular choreographic language and make sure everything burns with that quiet intensity. So in conclusion, it's a great challenge and I hope he continues to improve this program and skate it cleaner and cleaner!
