In another thread, there is comment that the medals in dance are already known and decided. If true, this is disappointing to say the least. I really like the team of Virtue and Moir. Do they have a chance to podium (if they skate well)? If the results are pre-ordained, they will likely not be there due to 'not their turn' type of results.

I really hope the dance will be fair. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this.

The composition of the judging panels at Worlds is going to be very helpful to some teams, but none of them are North American.

The CD and OD judges: AUT, AZE, CAN, CHN, FRA, GER, GBR, ISR, JPN LTU, USA, UZB.
Three former SSRs (AZE, LTU, UZB) and a Russia-friendly ISR judge should help to keep DomShabs' and K/N's CD and OD scores high.

Then the FD panel will consist of ARM, BUL, EST, RUS (3 more former SSRs) plus 8 judges selected at random from the OD/FD panel. It's entirely possible that no US or Canadian judge will be on the FD panel, and in the realm of possibility that half the judging panel will consist of 6 former SSR judges.

Even a so called fair panel of judges and technical team put russian team ahead at GPF, So they are better team(in my opinion).

Lets mourn about this onces the worlds are over.

The Russian team won the GPF because random selection included judges who gave them MUCH higher scores than their closest competitors. Had the random selection been different, DomShabs might not have won and could even have placed 3rd.

Perhaps random selection will wind up the exact opposite at Worlds, but with the possibility of half the judges from SSRs, the odds are against it.

there is always a chance ..
the medals can not be decided yet .did someone cancel the skating ?
yes the top teams are hoping to skate well and yes there will be lobing by coaches judges and maybe federations to get support for those teams
but if all top teams skate well i don't beleive V/M will get on the podium,,

You are right, we should wait and see..........it's just that dance has always been an event of frustration and disappointment for me to watch. It seems the results are always completely predictable (until just recently) no matter what. IMO that is not sport and it has detracted from figure skating overall.

Thus my reaction.....................if the posts are true and it is pre-ordained, what's the point in watching it?

there is always a chance ..

Unfortunately, that is exactly my concern....................it has happened so often in the past..................:ohwell::ohwell:]

I am worried that Dom/Shabs already have won worlds because they are Russian and the judges will mark them over B/A and Del/Shoes, both whom I think are better teams. :)

Well, we will see how this will turn out and I really hope that each team will be judged on their skate ONLY!!!

Finally, my personal belief is that Del/Shoes will win compulsory, B/A will win the OD, and either of the three teams will win the free.

First off, Shabalin will have to recover from his knee surgery. They will miss Europeans as well as Russian Nationals. Their being in good condition by Worlds will be a difficult challenge for them (really, this team has had such hard luck; it is a terrible shame)

There is always a reason with you, isn't it? If not the judges then it is computer to blame. So pathetic!

In a tight race for the gold, as it is in Skate Dance, the judges will definitely give the team from their country the edge over the couple who could win. That judge could also mark less of the team they don't want to win to be sure.

Judges without a team repesenting their country will go, more than likely, with the style that they grew up with. It's inherent.

And that's the way it is in Skateland. Check the similarities in the protocols.

I wouldn't say pathetic, I would say accurate. The claim about the random selection helping the Russians is simply true.

chuckm didn't say WHY this happened, only that it did...

Remember B/A had lower technical content compared to D/S, so it was not all about computers going stupid.

Absolutely true. Again, all I am saying is that the random selection helped D/S win the GPF. No one seems to be claiming some kind of conspiracy, least of all me.

In the grand scheme of things, I think it is probably good that we have learned that this can (and will continue to) happen with the current system.

Shabalin is already on the ice practicing, and DomShabs are hoping to make it to Euros. If they do go to Euros, they will likely take gold, with K/N in 3rd.

And who was judging that?

It will until one day they have regional representation.

Well that panel is most pro Candian or pro US panel possible, it is almost impossible to have panel that atleast doesn't includ 1 or 2 soviet born judges.

Looking at it makes me wonder what ur complaining about

And Uzbekistan? and all other Soviet Republics whose judges are all desendants if not native Russians. Then there is Belorus and Ukrainel All these ,at least 6 judges to back up the Russian judge. Am I correct?

btw. I'm not complaining. I understand the will to win at any cost, and it's best to play the game of having as many judges in favor of the mother country.

Not unusual for the US to differ from Canada. But how many former soviet republics will differ from Russia?
