Dance Event at Worlds

Despite the nitpicking, I find V/M a beautiful team to watch to whatever music they use. There is no original story to last season's Valse Triste but they made one feel the pathos of the music

Joe

But there was no start-to-end grinning with 'Valse Triste'.

It's their interpretation. One may not like the smiling but they feel the smiles of love as I see them perform it. (I actually never saw the film so I am not bothered with the story.)

I think, that Tessa show for us really happy young love. But maybe she must fell some sadness, because her boyfriend will go to the army. But at this point she maybe think, that he will retгrn to her
I saw this film a lot off times, and if they show beginig of relationship, they must be happy. Maybe Tessa didnt see it - she is two young . :biggrin:But this is so beautifully - especially her hair-style and ending pose at 4CC
We all can have our own opinion, i think

This withdrawal makes things so much more exciting.

It's a three-way race for the gold, with K/N as possible spoilers for one of the top teams.

After all their years of being undermarked by dumb judges, it is TIME for Delobel/Schoenfelder to collect their first Worlds medal. I think their FD is by far the best of the season - we see them with emotional connection for once, and it's so subtle technically and artistically. So I'm hoping for them to get Silver or Gold, but it's so crucial that they stay clean. It's also a great help that the CD is intact, since they usually score higher in that segment than the Americans or Canadians.

Meanwhile, Tessa and Scott are hands down the best ice dance team in the world. They do everything better than everyone else. Their program this season isn't as good or deep as Valse Triste (best ever?), but it's still worthy of a medal. I don't see them beating the Americans, but they could definitely beat all other teams.

Kudos to you. Let VM tell the story at Worlds.

Dom/Shab seem to have great luck (not the best choice of words here, but...) when it comes to GP and europeans, but when it comes to worlds, it seems like they can't catch a break. Last year, was Oksana's father, this year it's Max's knee...

I really hope they'll fine for next year's WC...

I wonder how many people from here cruise Russian skating forums??
There is so much information over there on what's going on within Russian Fed. after Dom/Shabs withdrawal.
One huge news that I have not read at this board is that apparently, this is the LAST WORLD championship for the almighty Piseev as Russian Federation President. The rumor has it that this might hinge any of his possible attempts to form favorable judging block at Worlds.
Little known but very powerful Mrs. Irina Raber from Moscow is rumored as possible replacement for Pissev.
The so-called Russian-friendly panel is under question as Armenia will NOT be at the panel. The announced Irina Kireeva (Russian citizen) might not be the one who will be representing Azerbaijan. Israeli judge is rumored to be from team Schpilband. So lots of changes and shifts at the panel and within panel dynamics left big room for some unexpected results after Dom/Shabs news.

In what manner is this info discussed on the Russian skating forums? Is it just matter-of-fact and neutral, or is there open admitting of "oh no, we're losing favorable judges" or is it "oh no, now there might be a N. American/Asian bias" or what? Is it accepted that politics play a role in judging?

Wow, the end of the Piseev era???

However strange this might sound but there is even more hate towards Domnina/Shabalin at Russian boards then here.:) It mostly due to a wide-spread hate towards their coach Gorshkov. It did change after Shabalin's injury news though. I have never read anything about national bias at Russian boards. They admit that Russian Feds is stronger in out-of-ice battles which is common known fact and all Federations are guilty participating in those games. There is huge support for K/N, but V/M has also huge Russian fan base so do Del/Shoes. B/A are usually disliked mostly because Tanith's disney-like animated personality is not very likable in Russia.

Wow, I didn't realize Dom/Shab were not particular favorites in their own country. Interesting information -- thanks~

B/A's dance is about how love changes---it starts out young and happy, but then life and reality sets in and what was once wonderful is not so wonderful any more. Tanith starts off smiling at the beginning of the dance, but by the middle, the smile is gone and at the end there is anguish and sorrow. Leave it to fans of other dance teams to criticize her for EVER smiling.

In contrast, V/M are skating a program with dialogue from the movie "Umbrellas of Cherbourg". The movie is about a young French couple who fall in love, she becomes pregnant, then he leaves to go to Algeria to fight (it takes place in the late 50s-early 60s). While he is gone, her family forces her to marry a more 'suitable' man. Tessa smiles from ear-to-ear throughout the entire program, even the dialogue parts where the woman cries out as if her heart were breaking.

..tanith AND ben both smile during their side-by-side footwork towards the end...they smile in the end too....

do you want me to "criticize" V/M too?

Tanith and Ben smile AFTER the dance is over. They are both sad and upset at the end of the dance.

Interesting - why a lot off people hate V/M? All another teams have good technic, presentation, power, speed and only two guys come to WCh with awful dances and cant skate - and its very sad for FS saw there skating and very boring :agree::biggrin:
Why, chuckm, you must every day repeate to us, you opinion about this team - we understandt you want from us - that we sad, that they must take 20th place?
OK, B/A is fovorits at this WCh - pleace, stop this disscussion

Who's saying they hate V/M? I haven't seen that anywhere, but you jump to that conclusion quite readily, as well as to the assumption that because V/M are not heavy gold favorites, that everyone wants them to do poorly. V/M are a great team and they have a wonderful chance at making the podium, but they're not my favorites. Neither are B/A for that matter; I usually don't care for them that much, but this year I really like them.
I don't think think anyone is saying "All another teams have good technic, presentation, power, speed and only two guys come to WCh with awful dances and cant skate" in regards to V/M; people are just saying that it's unlikely that they'll win. And I've also never seen anyone say that they're an awful team because well, that would be a dumb thing to say as they are obviously a great team.

I'll end by saying that I really don't know who I want to win in this field; there are so many great teams. I just want everyone to have a great WCh, and to see fair judging.

npa, you always assume that any little criticism of V/M is a sign of hatred for them. That isn't true. I think V/M are a fine team, but I find their style to be very bland and dull. I didn't like their music choice last year or this year. I also don't think they are the best in the world, but I by no means think they are the worst. I just don't think they are as good as everyone says. But that is only my opinion.
