2022-23 Japan National Championships - Women's SP

Why is the woman announcing every technical element? You can watch it or read the box or both, so... idk? :scratch2:
That's how they do commentary in Japan
They usually have a former/pro skater calling out the elements and a TV announcer from the host broadcast company with them for...banter?

No commentary on FOD so can't confirm but I believe Shizuka Arakawa is doing commentary for the Women's events

Mao did the best she could do. TES score of 41 and a PCS score close to 30. She has a chance to squeak and make the final group after that skate. The 70 score will be hard to surpass by 6 athletes. Good for her.

Hina, I love her dress and makeup so much :love2:

Too bad about the fall on the lutz, but good skate otherwise. That last layback spin was so fast!

irritating. If that's her I believe she would have much better information and she does talk a bit more during replays but it's just unnecessary to have her ticking the elements off 😅

Hina! Might not make it to the free skate portion with this skate 🥹
5 skaters are eliminated. Mao and Ayumi are the only two skaters over 60. The Junior girls are the ones to watch out for in these first three groups.

I know. In most cases, I can look at the box. But, I don’t understand Japanese and so I only understand when she names the elements.

Good start to the event. I love how the Japanese run their events. I love their system of rankings, seeds, etc….. Plus, I love seeing the Junior girls compete against the Senior Girls in this one event.

Maybe I sound cranky because it's earlier here for me but you see a spin, right?
And there's only so many different jumps. So Idk..

Axel - アクセル
Salchow - サルコフ
Loop - ループ
Toeloop - トーループ
Flip - フリップ
Lutz - ルッツ

(not directed at you, this might help others and it's fun to try to read 🙂 )
