They even ditched the transitional lift. I don't even know if the time difference affected the pairs too much, or was it the flu.

Tarasova / Morozov with properly matching costumes.
It's a pity that Tarasova's is a dress rather than a two piece. They could have swapped shirts at the end like players sometimes do at the end of football matches, and nobody would have noticed!
Well, apart from the fact that Zhenya would have been drowned in Volya's top, and Volya wouldn't have been able to breathe in Zhenya's!
Oooh. Very nearly a collision coming out of the side-by-side jumps that were their first element. Too close to the boards and to each other!
And Vladimir had a moment on another element shortly afterwards.
Other than that, they were great.
They take the lead in the FS and overall. But, they only lead the FS by 0.60 points.

On Thursday, I was worried about Shanaeva popping out of her dress in the Short Dance. And today I was worried about Boikova popping out of her's in the Pairs FS.
Why do they take these chances?!
And what on Earth is going on with Dima's shirt?! That square patterned area on the back looks so out of place. At first I thought the patterned areas on the front and back were supposed to look like a waistcoat, until I realised that the patterned areas don't actually join up.
But, the skating itself was great (and so was the music!) They will definitely take a sizeable lead.
And they do. By 12.70 points in the FS, and by 15.79 points overall.

Honestly, of the Elvis programmes, I preferred the one we had earlier from Mukhortova / Evgeniev. And of the two partnerships fighting for the win, I preferred Boikova / Kozlovski.
But, judging by their reaction after they finished, Nastya and Sasha think they've won.

I think that came as a shock to everybody.
Nastya's crying her eyes out.
1.56 points behind in the FS and 0.51 points behind overall.
Talk about close!

Gasp that IS shocking!
Good on Sasha B and Dima K, they've been a bit out of sorts since the 2019 Worlds.
Poor Nastya though apparently back in the Junior days when she skated with a guy who's name I can't remember she got a lot of criticism for not being "good enough". Maybe this is bringing up bad memories.
But the two Moskvina teams are hugging it out so that's nice

I agree. The FS from Mishina / Galliamov didn't do it for me in the same way that the FS for Boikova / Kozlovski did.
But, I do feel sorry for Nastya and Sasha. They genuinely thought they had done it. And I think the audience did too.
It just goes to show how on the knife-edge it is. (Pun totally intended!)
