2025-26 Russian Nationals Men's Free Skate

i think that ignoring mistakes is not going to boost their confidence and it doesn't help them fixing them
I think he knows what this results isn't a complete "honest" ... he 's face this that ... and he looks relax ... I think he thinks that nobody expects him to win the Olympics, or maybe not even reach the podium... they simply hope that the skate won't be a total disaster ... and I think that is the best strategy for men ... because let be honest .. after years and years of disappointing in men .. I think nobody is expecting two good programs from a Russian man .. not even russian people ... they are expecting him to fail .. and women to win ...

I'm kind of glad both Petrosian and Gumennik skate first in the SP as they can come out and lay it down and then go back to the Olympic village and nap and save their energy for the FS. Or at least I'm going to think that's how it will go as that's the only possibility.

Even here there are many posts about his medal chances. Imagine what's going on the Russian media and social media.
Yes, as figure skating is such a great sport in Russia, I can imagine people are hoping he will podium at the Olympics.

Is this the Dallas TV theme that plays during the medal ceremony? I mean...why? :ROFLMAO:

Noone is expected him to fail. What are you talking about?

I can imagine .. but one thing is hopping with reality ... for example ... even without international competition and a fail competition ... people are afraid of Adeliia and Eteri ... people expecting her victory ( and second place isn't a option) ... for Petr ( and I would like him to medal, and I think he has a chance because he has the all package and after Mallin there is a open field) .. if he fails people will think another man that was crush with pression like last 3 olympics ...

I'm just saying that the expectation for men is different from women in russia figure skating .... the last 3 olympic are proof of this in men .. women gold .. man I think not even the top 6 ... even when we see russian men competing ...they are not consistent .. less pressure for him ... but I think they don't see him like a true threat .. and I think that will be good for him

I'm back and surprised exhibition didn't even start. Just want to say that at the conclusion of this tournament Vetlugin is my ultimate highlight. Men in general was—sort of as expected—the best discipline by far. Definitely the densest 18-person line-up of any event of the entire world-wide season. Zhenya's SP worth mentioning as well. Mark's FS, too. But across 2 programs Vetlugin was certainly the hero—the main character of today. So happy for him. I was jumping up and down for every element. It felt similar to watching Adeliia go clean last year.

Still can't believe Frolova bombed. One of the most devastating things I've seen, TBH.

Missed the party but i just want to say Matveiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!:jumping::jumping::jumping::love2:
Last season was rough so i'm really happy to see him skate so well. That's really a good result for him. King of odd layouts. No 3A in the free, solo 3T, 2 3lz-3lo. I don't remember his 4T takeoff being so wild.

Nice for Petya to finally get that gold. I still remember his face when that epic tie happened

I wonder what happed to Vlad and Fecundo. Especially Vlad, never seen such a disaster from him. Hope he bounce back next season.

Petr had some really blatant underrotations and q's with big hooks on the landing not called. Semenenko kind of robbed of victory I thought. But 3 of the last 4 guys were brilliant including Petr.

The focus on the two people going to the Olympics kind of took the shine off the event it really affected the men's result. Felt like a glorified training run for two people.

Petrosian's been the leader for nearly three years now, she established herself, undefeated since March 2023, but Petr's never been a leader until he was awarded the Olympic spot now he can't lose. He suddenly has this undeserved aura about him
