1) Goldberg says : surprising there are not many emerging Chinese pairs considering the amount of skaters and talent and people they have... BUT he added that one of the issue is the lack of facilities, most pairs train in Harbin in the North

Another issue I have heard is that the more promising girls get funnelled into pairs early on since it has a more prestigious reputation than singles. Ergo their great throws/lifts but generally bad SBS

And yes, just general per capita rinks etc. are much lower in China than say Russia, sp smaller pool of skaters

The Chinese pair really has a lot of potential. Yongchau, in particular, has an fun, outgoing personality as well. It will be interesting to see how they develop.

My type of pairs skating Most of my favourites have strong singles skills (Aussies, Lia/Trent)
