2023 World Figure Skating Championships Women's Free Skate

I did not appreciate enough that small fed countries like BEL do not have the experience gained from the pressure cookers that is nationals and world team selection that other larger countries such as JPN, KOR, USA, CAN, and RUS experience. No wonder she needed help with the pressure. I am glad she sought help.

Held it better than at the Europeans, where the title was too close. Here she looked strong mentally, and was much more into her performance. I think this year will help her in the long run. In terms of managing pressure and expectations. I think this was a good overall competition for her.

She didn't fall apart like she did a bit at Euros after the fall in the Free, but I'm sure she would have preferred to not fall at all.

Unlikely that she will grab a medal unless the skaters in front of her have issues too, but will probably finish no lower than the 5th place she already had after the Short.

A lovely skate from Loena - she has really become such a good skater in the last few years. I loved her 2A-twizzle-Ch Combo spin, and her choreo sequence as well, with that lovely arabesque spiral followed by the spread eagle into Ina Bauer. Shrieked when Belinda commentator-cursed her, but she didn't let it phase her. She was committed to her performance to the end - the face she made coming out of the Flying Ch Combo spin!

I'm sad that Loena was not able to skate up to her potential at this competition. She has so many special qualities. I think this music shortchanges her (the short is much better) but her PCS should still be up there.
A mistake but overall she looked really strong here. The most confident I've seen her all year and she didn't let the stumble get to her. I'm not a huge fan of the program, but felt it did actually work for her, it was refreshing to see her not do a showgirl program for once.
