2023 World Figure Skating Championships Men's Free Skate

The message they're sending (and it's been a message that they've been sending the whole season) is that all aspects of skating matter. Not just doing as many quads as possible. They're rewarding balance.
I guess, but I think it's unfair to say Ilia just jumped and that was all. That step sequence was so enjoyable to watch, he was really into it!

I just hope people won't judge Ilia too hard and write him off as just as jumper.

But I'm probably biased because my brain is still blown by how he did all those quads, practically an entire programs worth! The energy and strength that must take!

Hahaha Belinda: Awww Junhwan. Same Belinda same!

I think Ilia is just getting started. I agree with all you said. I think he finished in the right place as it will spur him on to continue his development.

I think skaters should play to their strengths. Right now, for Ilia, that's his jumps. Like there are a lot of programs that others find artistic, but I get bored.

He’s still very young, and I don’t think most people would say he only jumped, just that his non-jump elements aren’t as refined or impressive yet. He’s got time to get there, hopefully. I’m not too worried 🙂

I am going to bed now... first time almost in 3 days..

next year's worlds will be in a better timezone for me... actually....i will be able to walk to the rink from home :)

Ilia got highest TES! Jun second highest!!!!!!
Eeee Jun!!!

I still remember one competition where he skated amazingly (I thought?) and then they killed him with UR and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. This time he got the GOEs!

Gee they've got stairs?! Imagine if you tripped heading up them :laugh2:

It's a good day for skating though!
