Got all excited thinking those were the final standings, and then realized it was the marks for just the Canadian skaters. Well, anyway, why waste a cute emoji I'd already added:

yeah... our skaters didn't score that well. There is no stream so it's hard to tell how they did just with that.

Where did all the Canadian women go? Around 2012 there was an uprising Kaetlyn but there was also the recent bronze medal from Joanie so it wasn't in a bad state. Then around 2014 there was gabby, kaetlyn, and alaine rising up slowing. By 2016 all 3 of them were in contention for international medals. And then the 2017 worlds medals and the 2018 olympic bronze! After 2018, there seemed a few rising stars in Sarah tamura, aurora cotop, alison schumacher, and emily bausback. Now, it looks like there's only a battle between kaiya and maddie.

???? There are tons of good women skating right now. They are all at about the same level of talent... but they lack experience and competition opportunities.

You named Maddie and Kaiya, Gabby is still there, there is Justine, Fiona, Sara-Maude, Uliana... Rose is a junior that also will compete senior (she is aging out soon anyway)... Uliana, Lulu, etc... The number of skater with potential is much bigger than when there was a good top 3 and that was it... but the issue is that we do not see them. Autumn Classic entries have been released. As hosts, Skate Canada is allowed to send as many athletes as they want. They send only Kaiya in women...

It's very upsetting that they are only sending one female and one male to Autumn Classic. If they only want 12 skaters, have 2 less from other countries.

Yeah... i think they went for the : let's make sure that this even fits all nice and tidy and two days.... with enough breaks for people to get a poutine in between disciplines.

There are two women from Israel, 3 from the USA, 2 from Japan, 2 from Korea... etc... seriously.

It's pretty bad when Japan is outdoing you in CS entries (Japan being notably parsimonious in years past). Does Skate Canada have $$$ issues, or is it something else?

(No complaints from me on the pairs front, at least!)

If Skate Canada has money issues, they should send as many as they can to ACI right? There are skaters living in Montreal not being sent to ACI.

And Gabbie Izzo/Thierry Ferland are on the entry list for Souvenir Georges-Éthier at the end of September, indicating that they are training in Cabada (otherwise they could pick one of the many domestic competitions in the US).

Now, teams training in Canada are not necessarily looking to represent Canada, but in this case, it could be a sign, as one of the two will need to get citizenship for the other country if they want to go to the Olympics, and if they are training in Canada, it's likely that Gabbie is the one going for Canadian citizenship.
Gabbie and Theirry are listed on the B-Team of Patinage Québec's development teams.

One would think that Michael Slipchuck would understand the importance of sending out our skaters to these 'B' events. He himself was sent out and placed well at a couple. I seem to remember a commentator saying at an event that he was now being taking more seriously since he medaled at a 'B' event. And what happens if Fiona wins Nationals. At present she could still not even be able to go to 4CC.

Fiona got 4CC minimums at Cranberry Cup, did she not?

I'm sure he would prefer that my main memory of his competitive skating was not the time he had to stop mid-performance to deal with a quite spectacular nosebleed. Sorry about that, Michael :rolleye::console:

It almost looks like the sent 1 man and 1 woman because they "had to" :rolleye: like oh, we're hosting this? Then we have to.. sry.
 srsly, what's this?

Could skaters not show up on SC's desk and say "hey, I'm ready, I want to be there"?
Or is there a major plan behind all of this where they avoid to have international competition between Canadians? :palmf: (in singles)

Or did the invitations get misdirected? Which sounds like a joke, but I knew a male coach named Kelly Johnston who, in the early 1980s, had been competing in Novice pairs with his sister at the same time the female Kelly Johnson was medalling in Senior dance with Kris Barber. The CFSA, as it was then, routinely mailed information about training camps and competitions to the wrong KJ. :bang:

😅 sad, but this can happen once or twice, not xx times (= xx skaters) 🤔

I was thinking of the cliche excuses people make when they forgot to invite someone to a party. 🤥Of course, today someone could try to blame "computer error", but that wouldn't fly. Has anyone ever asked SC what gives? A sports journalist, maybe? For the skaters, it would be too risky, but someone advocating for them questioning the thinking behind this?
