"Johnny Weir: Black Swan Rising" TV series

I just read that Sundance Channel is planning a series on Johnny.

"Johnny Weir: Black Swan Rising " is supposedly a "documentary series with six 30 minute episodes about U.S. figure skating champion and 2006 Olympian Johnny Weir as he trains for the 2010 Olympics."

That article says it is "in development for 2009." I guess we have to wait awhile, dang it. I'm sure it will be well worth the wait, though. Johnny is never boring. Some of us will be amused, some titillated, and everyone else will no doubt be offended. Good stuff!

Johnny has had a film crew following him for over a year now so there is a lot of material, Wonder how they are going to decide what to show and what winds up on the cutting room floor?

This sounds really cool ... and I hate to be picky ... but the Black Swan reference is not appropos. It's from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, which Johnny has never used to my knowledge. His Olympic-year music for the short program was The Swan by Camille Saint-Saens.

But I still hope the project really comes to fruition. Look forward to seeing it.

Johnny is always calling himself a "black sheep", but I guess "Black Sheep Rising" doesn't have quite the same ring to it

It's just the working title, anyway. It might change before it airs.
