Paula, What a great article.

And since this thread is about respect for Rachael, here's some celebratory videos: :rock::rock:

Of course, her Respect Exhibition at Jr. Worlds (including the encore)

Her winning LP at Jr. Worlds this year:

Her SP at Jr. Worlds (It ain't necessarily so)

And the first time I ever saw her skate, at the Liberty competition in 2005:

And in case you're wondering, the label on the boards reads, "Watch Out For Flying Pucks"

I can't wait to see her senior GP debut in the fall.

Great article and great thread!
Lori Nichol used Romantic Rhapsody by Mathieu to create Flatt's long program. "I was working with Lori and Lenore Kay," Flatt said. "We found it in Lenore's music library. She has an incredible number of CDs. When we first heard it, I knew that was it."
Nice to see Lenore Kay get a mention. Ms. Kay is a music specialist who consults with Lori Nichol and other choreographers to help skaters select and edit their music.

Considering thew importance of choosing the right music and the right cuts, this is a separate specialty from choreography itself. Lori Nichol has praised the work of Lenore Kay many times. As I understand it, her encyclopedic music library is a wonder to behold.

Yes indeed. And to think that a skater gets credit or discredit in the PCS scores which he/she had nothing to do with except the advice from the experts.

Joe

Back to Rachael. She is a contender, and a fighter! Only two Ladies get to LA next year. She will be right up there with the top contenders.

Disappointing as Worlds were for US ladies this year and the drop from 3 to 2 slots, Cleveland Natls will be very exciting with the three youngsters all age eligilble for LA!!!! Rachael is definitely a contender!
