It's official -- Belbin/Agosto split from Sphilband

In response to this rumour, many have pointed out the opinion that Belbin and Agosto have not perfected their line and posture under Schpilband and therefore a change may be good (for addressing this weakness).

I felt that they addressed line and posture for the first time this season (with the Chopin program) and really made great strides. I also agree that had they not fallen in the CD, Belbin & Agosto would certainly have medalled at Worlds.

Igor Schpilband had three teams in the top six at Worlds (quite an accomplishment for any coach) so he is obviously doing something right. With that said, I can understand that he is a busy man dividing his time between so many teams.

It's a tough call to make (whether or not to change coaches). My gut feeling is "if it ain't broke,"...but in this case it may indeed be broken. Only Belbin & Agosto can decide if that's the case.

Werner has specified on his conference that no actual coaching change has been made as of yet. He says his only information is that B&A visited Linichuk in Delaware, presumably to look into training with her. However, in no way is this a final and definite switch.

Well I think that whatever Tanith and Ben do it will be the best decision for them and hopefully it will really help them and get them back to the top.

Now...correct me if I am wrong...don't Gregory and Petucov(spelling) also train in Delaware with Johnny's old coach? Wonder how this would work for them.

Is it unusual for figure skaters to reach out for a second opinion?...or... for the coaches to send out their students for let's say... a masterclass... with other coaches?

Not at all--before the Olympics, Zhulin sent N/K to Tatiana Tarasova for a week or so. I remember this because in the interview, Zhulin said that they were so tired after the "master class" that he gave them three days off.

I remember the buzz about if Mao had left Rafael and when Johnny swiched coaches...

I do not know if this would be a good move for Tanith and Ben. But if they are gonna change, this would be the time. I always thought it must be hard training in the same rink with your closest rivals, even having the same coach. No secrets can be kept.

Here is a thought, Tanith used to date Fedor right, well ever since they broke up and do you think that maybe now that they are no longer together, that Marinia might be holding out on them now, and focusing more on Virtue and Moir now that Tessa and Fedor are rumored to be dating...just a thought.

Usually, I try hard to ignore any private-life-gossip and really, don't care one way or the other what the skaters are up to off the ice, but I've seen several references to this situation on the boards and I must say that it really gives me a Yeechh!! feeling.

I agree with eyria - maybe it "is" time for B/A to get out of there (and re. Tessa-Fedor - hopefully she dumps him really really soon).

A lot of people saw them together at Canadian Nationals. Apparently he sat with her family when she was skating, they sat together when neither was skating, they went to the banquet together, they left the banquet together, she was wearing his jacket, etc, etc.

They've known each other a long time and he's a friendly guy in general, so it could just be a friendship.

I was wondering whether it hasn't been changed. The only concern a parent would have with that page is that their child wear a seat belt when they drive.
