2023-24 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 6 - Moscow

I think she lost her mom like a month ago, it must affect her skating skills of course

I get the feeling matvei is prob a bit of a perfectionist, so he will be harder on himself than he should be.
Maybe … but to that extent? I don’t know  I can’t think about anything in his performance that was “bad” or even significantly worst in relative terms compared to other of his skates. In a way, I kind of hope it isn’t the perfectionist in him because that would imply a level of pressure not connected to reality and be no good for him at all.

Got the feeling though that as others have suggested, it may not have to do with skating, which in a way would be more “normal” 🙂

Sub-30 PCS again? Well, maybe the judges are feeling critical. I wont complain as long as they stay consistent with the popular girls, too...

Katya's skating makes me happy. She is such a sunshine.

Last heason her 3+3 was terrible. 3F+3T was always heavily ur everytime so that she started doing 3T+3T. And in the off-season they worked on her triples. She got height on them. Is that even possible in this amount of time? I found her performances in the novice and junior categories, by the way. Not too long ago she had no triples at all except for shaky 3T and 3S. She must be very gifted.

One of her coaches is a tech specialist. I hope they work on her steps. I think the StSq2 also affects PCS a little.

I feel like that skate would score more internationally.
Judges are very stingy with "unknown" skaters.
In Kazan they were stingy with everyone, not selective. Hopefully we see the same here. The PCS is looking low to me so far.

Shame Chaplygina didnt skate like this before or she could've pushed Nats and we could've seen that splendid program again.
