2024 World Championships Men's Free Skate

Woooow what an opening from Nikolaj!

I do keep worrying he might end up going into the boards, he's such a tall lad!

How old is the ISU president? Because he looks about 30!

Did Mark say Dignatries? Or Dieties? :laugh2:
He is 55, and to a Korean he looks about mid to late 40s. I know that East Asians are considered younger-looking amongst other types of people but I seriously cannot see him as in his 30s

Of course, the problem is that majority of European and Asian skaters train their programmes in that kind of a rink, they don't have this kind of a (NHL) rink to train their programmes to it.
It is so bizarre that the ISU allows this to happen for the biggest event of the year. Would not be acceptable in any other sport. The narrow rink not only negatively affects the skating but discriminates against Asians and Europeans.

Memola is going into these elements with seemingly no speed. Surprised he is landing as many jumps as he is because the skating skills are not there.

This is the most I've enjoyed Nikolaj. Loved that musical 3A. Had also had several nice landing positions and some of the best hands in the event. I love me some Samson and Delilah so he has good taste. Bravo young man.

For the biggest events as Olympics it is not acceptable, for some others it is. It is acceptable in every day soccer game in Europe for that matter. And that's why Worlds Champions hosts are changing between the continents... Some will do better in North Ameica, some others in Europe and Asia, but the best skaters will be good in both i guess...
