Everlasting33’ is the third ice show produced by Mao Asada. Since her retirement from competition, she has produced all the cast selection, choreography, direction, music, costumes and tour goods for her ice shows, which has conveyed the new appeal of skating and moved more than 660,000 spectators throughout Japan.​

In this show, which will be an even more artistic show, the 30-member orchestra will perform all the songs live and figure skating will collaborate with the audience in the theatre space. In addition, the 10 skaters who gave a spectacular performance in the previous show, as well as other leading Japanese dancers, have also been newly assembled. Please enjoy a premium ice show that no one has ever seen before, featuring Mao Asada.​

A new show will be held in Varese, Italy on August 15th. Called Japanese Dream, it features the top Japanese skaters as well as Carolina Kostner. The skaters will be Kaori Sakamoto, Mone Chiba, Hana Yoshida, Mai Mihara, Yuma Kagiyama, Sota Yamamoto, Kao Miura, Shun Sato, and Riku Miura/Ryuichi Kihara. The link for tickets is here. Interestingly, Varese is a training base that Yuma and Carolina have worked at before, and JSF selected to be the Olympic training base for the 2026 Winter Games. This is a "trial run" of sorts for that base and skating in Italy, it seems. Prior to the show, the team will hold a three-day training camp (presumably with Carolina) in the newly-renovated Varese rink. Carolina has apparently been one of the loudest voices for using Varese for this purpose and getting the rink fixed up. You can read more about it here.

Hyoen – “The Miracle of the Cross” opened yesterday to enthusiastic reviews. This year’s edition is a musical (which, as previously reported, is loosely based on the classic fantasy novel ‘Night on the galactic Railroad’). The story is entirely told through the guest artist’s songs – popular folk-pop duo “Yuzu” from Yokohama, where the show is held – and therefore has been likened to the ABBA musical “Mamma Mia!”. The band itself only performs a short live set towards the end of the show – the rest of the songs are performed / sung live by the cast – not only by the professional musical theatre actors and singers, but also by some of the skaters who have had extensive singing lessons. In typical musical fashion parts of the story are also conveyed through spoken dialogue. According to fans who have attended the first two performances, it is impossible to summarise the show in a few words, as it is a very fast-paced, wild ride with (sometimes drastically) changing moods from scene to scene. An exuberant galactic pride parade led by Koshiro Shimada, portraying a queer character, is just as much a part of the story as a soulful a cappella vocal performance by Daisuke Takahashi!

I know some of this has been posted previously, but Dreams on Ice, scheduled for June 28th-30th, announced they will have a live broadcast on June 29th from 17:00-20:30 on NTV Plus, and will have reruns on NTV G+. Skaters include Yuma Kagiyama, Kao Miura, Shun Sato, Sota Yamamoto, Kaori Sakamoto, Mone Chiba, Hana Yoshida, Rinka Watanabe, Mai Mihara, Mao Shimada, UtaMori, AzuShin, Ilia Malinin, and Cha Jun-Hwan. The show will be lights-on and feature a 6-minute warmup before skating groups. June has been such a great month for ice shows! Lots of skating, return of my favorite ice show and new exploration all around.

I also love how Hyoen and Everlasting33 provided much needed great respite for my eyes with their stunning visuals and costumes after all the fashion crimes Fantasy on Ice has committed this year, both tour A and B lol I do appreciate that Faoi brought the classic skating that's not necessarily the focus of the other two shows though.

Dreams on Ice has their order of skating AND what program the skaters will be skating up, which I think is a first for them. As someone who loves DOI because it reveals what the programs for next season look like from the Japanese skaters and their costumes, I really appreciate this. I also hope the normal lighting will result in clear photos of what the costumes will look like!

I think DOI has done this before- but during the pandemic, if I remember correctly- so it was DOI 2020. It was the same format with the lights on and helped the skaters get the competition vibe they weren't able to get due to cancellations of the competitions. So this won't be a new thing for the skaters (most of the skaters who skated at DOI 2020 are here too).

Now that's a huge, positive surprise! I was convinced we'd never see Shizuka and Mao in the same show!

Imo, of all Japanese shows FOI has the best cast list this year hands down - almost all my favourites will be there.
