Roman gave the best explanation I have heard from a skater as to why the proposed rules changes should have passed. Since 30 seconds were removed from free programs, there is currently too many elements packed into programs without enough room for time to concentrate on choreo. So, apparently, those with jump-focused perspectives did not like the elimination of a jump, and those more artistically-minded enjoyed having more time and space to tell a story. The other part about this is skaters and choreographers having to now redo their programs that were based on the rules changes passing.

They're going into effect then. The issue is that skaters choreographed their free programs without the rules being decided until June. Roman explained that adding/removing a jump isn't as easy as it sounds.

I can see that. Because of planning the setup.

It's about more than just planning the setup for the extra jump. If you listen to what Roman says in his vlog, you'll understand. He's very much an artist, not just an athlete. In collaborating with his choreographers, Roman works on weaving a story. So, if you have to add back in a jump, for an artistic-minded skater, that changes the whole program, not just one section where the jump is added.

For skaters who do not pay much attention to storytelling and finer details, it is probably easier to throw in an extra jump anywhere without affecting the program's message and ambiance, because most programs do not have any ambiance or messages to convey.
