2024 BC/YT Section Super Series Autumn Leaves | Oct 4-6

oh these useless lists by clubs lol.. when will BC learn ?

My goodness! 😲 I see what you mean. :drama:

Mind you, I had to smile when I saw that one of the clubs has the same name as a chip shop in my hometown!

The Glengarry! 🍟

But, it got me curious about the club.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with any of skaters from the Glengarry club that are competing at this event. And when I looked at the club's website, I didn't recognise the names of any of the coaches either.

So, does anybody here know if there is anybody of interest that has come through the ranks of this club, which (according to the header on the website), has been "teaching Penticton to skate since 1953"?

I'll just add - while on the "Old Successes" page, I did see a photo from an awards ceremony with Kevin Reynolds in it. But, I think he was actually the guest of honour that was presenting the trophies.

you know, it's British Columbia... There are cities names Richmond and (New) Westminster... there are "British" names everywhere... Ontario went for bigger European names..like London or Paris ;) they even had a Berlin (now changed) and there is Amsterdam in Saskatchewan...

So you can have hours of fun if you just go through maps of Canada (and the USA is the same too)... Sometimes, they did put a "New" in front, sometimes, they didn't even bother

I don't know any skaters from the Okanagan Valley who has been a big name in the sport... but it could be just that they didn't stay there and moved to bigger clubs later. The Okanagan Valley is a beautiful region with small towns surrounding the lake. It's a micro-climate which is ideal for wine culture. Among the best wines I have tasted in my life.

Start orders for the remaining groups were posted, David Li withdrew.

Junior Women is starting now.

I’m catching up on JGP Mens right now….

I just finished watching Denis Ten and Shanghai Trophy. Too many events today.

Hoping to see some high scores

I don't remember seeing Felicitas Fischer before, I liked her short. Maybe a bit more spin work judging by the GOEs, but she went clean with the jumps (2F helped.) 36.40 which put her in 5th.

Never heard of her…
Always nice to see new skaters in my home province.

I just looked her up on Skating Scores, there's a page for a skater with her name representing Switzerland  She's with Connaught, so not sure if this is a country change or not.

Wow!! That is interesting…
Was watching the Swiss junior skater right now with Lambiel… and then saw your post
I will try to catch her in the free skate…
Lots of interesting changes to Canada recently

48.84 for Calissa into 1st! :party2:

She's a fun performer, hopefully she can hold on to win here.

Oh wow!! Great score for her!! I didn’t expect a score this high from a Bc Junior skater. Calissa’s Artistry is wow. I just hope she changed her program, as she kept her programs for two years straight 😜

I checked out the Novice Pairs short since two of the teams will be Junior eligible internationally next season. Only one valid back outside death spiral of the three teams 😵‍💫 Best of luck to all the Novice teams in mastering it.

I can see Menard/Dunn being on NextGen next season if they're together, Cheung/Lee too.

I can’t tell the difference between pre-novice and novice. They all seem to have the same jumps.

Going to watch Juniors…
Then, Saskatoon to watch Senior Pairs

Then, back and forth between both competitions.

They allow single jumps/throws in Pre-Novice along with double jumps/throws. Twists can be Juvenile, single or double. Lifts can be a maximum of level 2, where they don't need to be lifted above the head to reach that level. They can also do any type of death spiral in the short, so they don't have to worry about the back outside death spirals this season 😮‍💨
