2024-25 Canadian Figure Skating

JGP Gdansk entries:

Men
Anthony Paradis
Edward Vasii

Women
Lulu Lin

Pairs
Kemp/Elizarov
Quattrochi/Desmarais
Rolland/Lacasse

Ice Dance
Gauthier/Thieren
Homick/Buelow

Quattrochi/Desmarais are going to be switched out somewhere, the ISU entries have them listed for three different JGPs at the moment. They aren't confirmed on the Skate Canada page for Ankara, so that's probably where they're a placeholder.
WOW.. this is a big QC delegation. My new son !!! Fun ! Happy to see Rolland/Lacasse there. Their hard work is being rewarded and this could motivate them to work even harder towards better elements. No secret that I really like Étienne!

Quattrochi/Desmarais have withdrawn from Ankara, and the third Pairs spot isn't being used there.

Gover/Wilson French are replacing Veillon/Brandys at Ankara, and this one is likely because it overlaps with Nebelhorn. IAM Ontario has several teams competing there, and Scott Moir can't be in two places at the same time.

Also the entries for the Podium Pathway Fall Invitational in Airdrie, AB are out. I want to note two things about them:

- Scott Davis has several students competing here, including Lia Cho and Parker Heiderich. The competition is happening close to Nebelhorn, so this is likely the reason why Kaiya won't be there.
- Rose Theroux isn't entered with the other Ice Palace skaters. I don't think it's likely she'll get a Challenger this season if she isn't competing at the domestic competitions.

I don't honestly think Rose was in the running for a challenger event anyway. She wasn't at her best at Nationals or Wild Rose. I hope that she is okay and that we see her back to her best soon.

Anyone know if the JGPs will be live-streamed?

This is not confirmation of a country change yet.

If she is switching countries for sure, she will be on the Skate Ontario Sectional Qualifying Declaration list that will have the final version published next week. This isn't actually sectionals yet, this is a qualifying competition for the November sectional championships (Ontario is confusing with how they explain their setup.)

Other skaters compete in Canada and have been listed as representing clubs instead of their country. Mackenzie/Lockwood for example were listed as representing North Toronto SC/Skate Kingston at their competitions prior to this one. Tzu-Han Ting represented the Cricket Club instead of Chinese Taipei when she competed at the Skate Ontario July Sectional Series 2023 competition. It's not standard, it'd be nice if it were, I want to know which country Kuneshita/Roueche are representing.

Hopefully there will be an answer next week when they publish the list :dbana:

Skate Ontario is moving away from Dailymotion, their streaming site is here - https://skateontario-streaming.memberlounge.app/

The archives from August haven't been fully uploaded there, the Junior/Senior events are missing. Plus it took a week to go up, so hopefully someone screen records Minsol from it. I'm going to contact them about it since they've now got a lot more people interested for October.

The joke is well done.

Would I call this a fair trade (if confirmed?)

Not really. Canada has other young promising women, fine, maybe not as promising as Minsol.. but Korea had no dance team... so it's a very good trade for them... if it is indeed happening ;)

When was the last time we had a 4th place finisher in JGP women ?

MAGIC !
She was amazing! I just caught up to this result.

Lulu scored 140+ at NextGen. 150+ at Cranberry and now 160+ (her usual at domestic events) here at Riga.

The judges are liking her a bit more. I’m so happy Canada has decided to send her to two events instead of one. She has a chance to place in the top ten in the Junior GP standings.

Canada didn't need Lim and Quan. They had other junior ID teams who were ahead of them. I don't think Lim and Quan would have got to where they are now if they had been representing Canada. They started to get opportunities because they represented Korea and did not have any rivals there, and they then grasped the opportunities with both hands. I don't think they would have had the opportunities in the first place if they had stayed with Canada.

I think Korea do need Minsol. She seems more popular than Jia Shin and the twins and is therefore important for the popularity of the sport in Korea.
