i know this is a little late, but Rio has always avoided the lutz when possible. That's one of the reasons non-quad jumpers would beat him in the past, because even with the quad, the lack of lutz made his tech scores lower.

Ruiyang ZHANG 张瑞洋(sounds same with Ruiyang ZHANG 张瑞阳 who competed in JGP women last season) is actually the son of Min ZHANG. Min ZHANG represented China in 1994，2002 and 2006 winter Olympic Games, he had 4T and 4S, and was one of the earliest skaters who had quads.
