2024 Grand Prix de France Free Dance

Yes, this was my least favourite line-up as I’m not really invested in any of the teams although there are a few teams I like.
Sometimes a field where I'm not really invested in any of the teams makes it more fun for me to watch and just see what happens. But here, the material just made that a no.

I don't know why you are assuming she "gave" them anything. Outside of IAM, most senior teams independently choose the FD concept (and then coach approves it).
I don’t think that’s correct - I believe most coaches chose the programmes for their skaters…IAM actually lets their teams choose (if they want to) - i.e. most of C/B’s FDs, H/B, H/D, V/M and P/C all choose at least some of their FDs…I think the top teams have a lot more say but it’s definitely not that case that all senior teams choose their progammes.

oh yeah.. sorry.. that's what you were referring to... you know... i have to say that Marie-France falling hurt me so much... yes, i felt the pain physically that i have blocked that event from my memory. So even the Babs stare.. is like secondary...
I know me too! I was so sad for Marie-France & Patch.
I felt bad that such freaky errors destroyed a lifetime of work for so many others.

my take on Babs reaction : waving and leaving so quickly the KnC is that she feels that her team should have still won, as if the judges owe it to her... she took it personally. I wouldn't want to be around her for a couple weeks. Let's not forget that her team lost to Piper and Paul at worlds and also to Fear and Gibson at NHK, both times, her team was seeded higher.

Czech judge put the Lithuanians above the Czech team. The judge deserves a monument or so.

Kind of. With montreal, Most of those teams collaborated with the coaches, or gave an idea and coaches talked with music editors (like Hugo Choinnard and Karl Hugo) to decide which music's will fit best together for that concept. For many teams the coaches decide on the music, costumes etc. For the more experienced teams they have more free reign (like chock/bates).

With every coaching team its different, but in ice dance especially most places allow/support couples to make their own music choices (unless they have specific ideas or visions). But Marco and Charlene are an example who push for their own choices. They definitely aren't "given" programs like many people pretend to suggest.

It's possible, I don't speak Italian. But from my understanding she was just upset/emotional and wanted to get out of there. She looked like she almost was crying at the end of their skate with the mistake (Before they got off the ice).

Not all CB fans are obnoxious, I hope you don't consider me obnoxious because I am a fan and believe the CB won last year's RD and G/P absolutely won the FD. Right now G/P have the winning RD of all the dances I have seen this season. CB have a lot of work to do on their programs.
Of course, I don’t find all C/B fans to be obnoxious. Contrary to many of my posts, I generally am a fan of Chock and Bates as well. Do I believe they should have been 3 points ahead of the other teams in the RD at last season’s Worlds? Absolutely not! That makes me not a fan of the judging, not of Chock/Bates. I was actually cheering for them to be on the Olympic podium in Beijing because I really enjoyed their FD that season. I also absolutely adored their Snake Charmer FD from 2020/2021. I am not a fan of their material this season at all. The RD and FD are both misses for me.

Barbara is a big mama-bear and I love that she cares so much for her skaters

I'm a bit speechless, a lot shocked and only mildly surprised.

I'm wondering about R/A. Is there some kind of struggle because in Nice they weren't much better regarding FD score. Where are R/A from Montreal in terms of scoring or even just right trajectory to it..? Is it maybe about the program no living up to the potential..I'm just puzzled at bit about this one.

Lopareva/Brissaud are doing their thing and doing it well when it comes to execution. I'd say that solid skating won't guarantee a win alone, but surely can massively contribute to one's chances to do so. They are not exactly my cup of tea, but they are 'something', often in the sea of vague 'anything' and 'everything'.

Charlene and Marco...I'm honestly unsure. Was it a blip, a weaker day, something was just off in the FD for them or is there an issue with the program..? To be fully honest, I respect them for taking this risk because this is truly something out of ordinary for them I feel, but...After Lombardia and Shanghai I started wondering how high the ceiling is for this concept as a competitive program, what is growth potential. And today I sort of realised that in a way this FD takes so much from them physically/skating-wise that their usual brightness about their crisp skating, chemistry is just lost. It was surreal to see them struggle this much, to see them performing such...timidly whereas I always associate them with passionate, sweeping skating that showcases their chemistry.
Now I'm wondering if there will be A CHANGE or changes...

If they deserved to be 3 points ahead in the rhythm dance at last year's worlds, Piper and Paul deserved to be at least four points ahead in the free dance, lol. But seriously, I think that kind of (almost insurmountable in ice dance) gap made it seem pre-determined in their favour, which sets my teeth on edge.

I've also loved some of their material like their Billie Eilish RD, the snake charmer program, the Elvis program, and the elements program (though once again, winning with a season's best when you've fallen in the program doesn't engender trust in the judging).

Their programs this year are also a miss for me, which makes me so sad because I love Take 5 and was actually excited to see what they'd do with it and they did....jazz hands. Sigh.

Anyone have a link to the CBC skate for Mrazkova /Mrazek or any other coverage with sound. I have nothing from ISU to post in REWATCH.

I definitely think they are the front runners for a European medal in January. R/A and T/V do not seem to be as popular with the judges this season.
I would love an european medal for L/B, but it seems that the georgians are very popular with the judges this season..... And could be pushed ahead of L/B when L/B finally manage to pass R/A...

Actually, the choreographer has more to do with this and assisting the teams with choosing their music and concept than the others, yes if the coaches do double work like a few at IAM do, then yes but you can't leave out choreographers: That is their job.
