Dutch Figure Skating 2024-2025

Time for some healthy rivalry again: Chelsea and Sherim vs Hannah and Alessio at the Pavel Roman Memorial in Olomouc (Czech Republic) this weekend. I am looking forward to it. Hoping there will be a stream.

Daria and Michel will take part in the pairs competition at NHK trophy. I wish them a lot of success and that they just have a good time there (I know they love skating in Japan).

Daria and Michel had quite a good FS at NHK Trophy. They were pleased with it. They ended in 5th place, and rose a place compared to the SP. Well done guys! :cheer::cheer:

Daria doesn't have citizenship yet, does she?
She does! She got it in February this year. Here's the article confirming it (sorry it is in Dutch):

Excellent. I was wondering about the Olympics. I remember all the times they've had to WD from competitions because of her not having a visa.

I can see the placement battle between Daria/Michel and Ana/Luke going on all season. I hope it doesn't go down to one of them getting into the FP at Worlds and thus an Olympic spot and the other missing out.

I like the placement rivalry between them, and I surely hope both will go to the Olympics in 2026 (meaning both will be top 16 at worlds!)

The rivalry continues. I thought yesterday when I saw the RD results of the Pavel Roman Trophy, with Hanna and Alessio in 5th and Chelsea and Sherim in 9th with a 5 point difference, that it might be clear who would win. But...even though Hanna and Alessio remain in front in 5th place, Chelsea and Sherim were in 6th for the FD, and managed to end in 7th. Still a big difference in points in total but being 5th and 6th in the FD does keep them close. Well done guys, and that's for both couples! :cheer::cheer:

Jolanda Vos (Dutch Junior woman) will be skating at Skate Celje, Slovenia.

Quite a few Dutch will be at NRW Trophy in Germany, like Niki Wories (SR women), both SR ID couples, Angel Delevaque (JR woman) and Lucca Dijkhuizen (Jr woman). Our advanced novice boy Leon Lo will also be competing there, as well as 3 advanced novice girls: Floor van der Pas, Summer Wijkhuizen and Lilia Zhang. The will be a live stream for free (all days links posted in NRW trophy thread).

Leon Lo won the bronze medal at NRW trophy in the category advanced novice boys. He actually won the FS but was too far behind the top two guys in the SP, to increase his placement. What a boost for the little guy. Well done Leon!!! :points::cheer:🥉

At the NRW Trophy in Junior Women Angel Delavaque was 6th, Lucca Dijkhuizen was 16th (11th in the FS and therefore rose from a 23rd position in the SP). Well done young women. Lots of potential there. :cheer::cheer:

In Advanced Novice Women Floor van der Pas was 14th, Summer Wijkhuizen was 16th and Liliah Zhang was 23rd. Good for you girls. :laugh3::laugh3:

Some news after the SP's:
Niki Wories (Sr Women) is in 3rd place at NRW Trophy (Germany). Rhythm Dance scores later, as the event starts a bit later this evening,
Jolanda Vos (Jr Women) is in 9th place after the SP at Skate Celje (Slovenia)

NRW Trophy: After the Rhythm Dance Chelsea and Sherim are in 5th place after their best RD skate ever (at least that is what I think and so did the judges, givng them 63.08 points) . :jumping::jumping:
Sadly Hanna and Alessio's skate was marred by a fall. However, they managed to pick themselves up and go on. They are now in 9th place. Hurrah for sheer perseverance! :hap10::hap10:

NRW trophy:
Chelsea and Sherim had a good Free Dance and managed to squeeze in within the Israeli threesome (who were 2nd, 3rd and 4th after the RD), and were 4th in the FD. In the end they were 4th overall also. They scored over a 100 points (just) in the FD, I don't think they ever did before. Well done you two! :jumping::cheer::cheer2:

After Hanna's unfortunate fall in the RD, she and Alessio were behind the other Dutchies, but managed to rise a few places as well: they ended in 7th. Also well done, to come back strongly.:cheer:

After eventful competions, finally the last post of this weekend: Jolanda Vos was 16th at skate Celje. After a not too bad SP (she was 9th), she had a not so good FS and fell back quite a bit. I will still cheer her on, bad things sometimes happen. I hope she's ok.:hap10:

Saskia Oudejans (whose name I've never seen before)

I was curious, so I just looked Saskia up.

She's American. From Florida. Going by her surname, I assume she does have Dutch heritage.

She never made it to Nationals, never mind international events. But she has won medals at some domestic events.

It'll be interesting to see how she gets on against the international skaters.

I realised watching the Warsaw Cup earlier than there seem to have been more Dutch ladies on the senior international circuit this season. Is it just coincidence, or is it because of Lindsay van Zundert retiring?

First the news: Michel and Daria managed to rise a place by ending 4th in the FS. Their final standing was 5th.

@FlossieH: Congrats with Anastasia and Luke's Silver medal. And now your question: I think it is a little bit double. Niki had a bit of a come back (you may recall Lindsay and Niki had a bit of a rivalry fight some years ago) after having retired for a few years - but remained working for the Federation, and contributed to increasing the number of girls and women sent out. Also, the effort from Joan Haanappel's foundation is paying off. Joan may have died as well as Sjoukje but the foundation is still going strong!
