In an interview they said that the 2nd part of the program is the robots becoming defective and finding love, so I think that's why in the stsq they switched to more fluid movements compared to last event.

thanks for sharing this ... i don't see it but it's okay... I am sure that Babs will keep tweaking this and by the time we get to worlds, it will be a completely different FD altogether... and perhaps literally completely different as well
It'll be difficult to make a brand new FD and get it ready to the standard for worlds (remember they have italian nationals coming up, then europeans. Not a lot of time to do a whole program). I suppose its possible to go back to an old program... but I think that could see equal criticism.thanks for sharing this ... i don't see it but it's okay... Either way, I'm glad they changed the StSq, so maybe they'll tweak it to the point of becoming a stronger program.
Really, I think this season was an experiment that wasn't successful, and they will do their best to salvage it and take all the feedback going into the Olympic season (where hopefully they'll choose material that will suit them better).

Not good timing. This last season would have been better. But I guess this is their penultimate season, and they probably wanted to try something like this before retiring (and not during an olympic season). I'm not C/M so I can't speak for them, but I guess after more than a decade of skating together things can get a little bit boring.

Just caught up! What an interesting competition. I much preferred G/F FD with the new costumes as I could actually focus on their movements - the old costumes were such a distraction. They still seem sticky in quite a few places. At least this is not an Olympic year so even if they don’t get the results they want this year then they can regroup for next year. But I suspect they will work to refine this and the choreography until Worlds, so I’m not counting them out at all.
I am so pleased for LaLa - I was so nervous during their performance! They are definitely gaining on F/G - I think both their (F/G’s) GP FD scores were around 122?
I’ve been really impressed with the scoring in the last two GP competitions- the judges weren’t just giving away huge GOEs, were strict on levels and the final standings are fair.
I do love S/D’s FD and glad they are getting the scores they deserve. I just knew their score would affect T/V who skated right after them. It’s such a shame cause their tango is glorious but they do always seem to make silly mistakes when the pressure is on. They need a good/better mental health coach.
I still love C/P’s Carmen and am glad to seen them getting good consistent scores. I’m sad for G/P as I really want them to be the number 3 US team but they are dropping levels they easily achieved before. I hope they have enough time and good health to prep hard ahead of US nationals.
I think this was my favourite competition as there were so many good teams competing and stricter judging makes such a difference!

I think that's the whole point of the program. Robots feeling love and being more human by the end ( unless I'm mistaken, but I thought it was pretty obvious)
You have to respect them for pushing their boundaries and trying to be different. The silver medallists' free skates have looked quite similar to each other the past 3 seasons.

I don't think that Mark Hanretty did the bronze medallists too many favours by mentioning Virtue/Moir and Krylova/Ovsyannikov in the commentary.

I respect their tremendous skating skills. I don't like this free dance at all, and sure, it's great they are trying something new.. and that's why they did it as a gala number.... as a free dance, it looks botched... That's my opinion of course : i am expecting something much better. I think that if they want to be storytelling robots falling in love, they have to go further than that...for now, it's robots doing a few robot arm moves and then going through elements of a typical free dance. There is more research and creating to happen if it's going to work for me.
No, I really don't like it all. To be honest, I am not a fan of most of their programs. Too frenetic for my taste. The costumes don't help either.

Thinking about Smart/Dieck vs C/P, I really feel C/P should just go to Madison Chock for a costume makeover. The right costume really sets the mood for S/D's free dance, and Madison's costume for Olivia makes that whole program work so well.

S/D's Dune has really come together well. Olivia is fantastic and Tim is starting to impress me.
The best though, in my opinion, is La/La/s Sound of Silence. Just a stunning, moving program. I can't keep my eyes off either one of them. Probably not a popular opinion here, but I don't care for C/P's Carmen. In fact I'd be a happy skating fan if I never had to hear another Carmen again. So overused. This program does nothing for me.
G/F was definitely better here, but still I feel this program does not play to their strengths. It's innovative, but if it's not a good vehicle for them, then why? Hmm... we'll have to see how it plays out in the GPF.

LaLa have great skating skills, but they bore me to tears. I don't like Disturbed's version of "Sound of Silence" either.
Much of the time, they don't seem to me to care very much about what music they skate to. Thriller was an exception-but I wonder whether their interest was more in the costumes than in the music.

I’d be ok with Christina’s if Anthony was in a full soldier’s uniform of dark blue or green with “buttons” and/or a medal, maybe some gold braid epaulettes to match the gold in her dress. The current costume just highlights the problem of him getting occasionally lost in this FD (and I say that as a fan)

Yeah a proper soilder’s costume would be much better for him. I actually like Christina’s dress. I love both her costumes this season
