Also... Chloé Panetta represented Canada and not France... the OP may need an edit there.

ETA for clarity. Chloé indeed tried with Giniaux (for France but they didn't compete) but the partnership fell through after only two months as she retired. So I could see why it makes sense to say she did represent France but considering her relatively successful career as a junior representing Canada, winning a JGP medal and of course the Junior National title, both with Kieran Trasher, that's why I raised an eyebrow on it.

I think Panetta briefly represented France after, but the partnership didn't last very long?

I updated my post. They started training in April and she retired in June. So it just didn't work out and she decided it was time to move on. So there was no competition for France. I only reacted because she was a junior national champion for Canada and even won a medal on the JGP circuit with Kieran Trasher.... and she did absolutely nothing for France with Giniaux except a couple months of training in the off-season... But anyways... I understand why now the OP had France listed originally. It's getting harder and harder for me to keep track

I just posted this in their Fan Fest, but felt it should be posted here too. And I have picked these posts to reply to, as they wonder about the reasons.

This is so sad...and her statement is so vague and he hasn't posted anything so far...

She posted a video of many happy memories they shared together, so I hope they parted on good terms. They are at an age when different interests might become more important and figure skating is a very hard sport, even more so when your heart isn't in it.

She did say it wasn't her decision and was "out of her hands". I've heard there have been problems with a Skating Mother in the past, but don't know if the pressure to split came from there or not. I hope to hear they each find a new partner if they want to continue in dance.

Basically, he hasn't been happy with the setup at Streatham for a few years now, and so wanted to move. But Ashlie wanted to stay. And, regrettably, they couldn't find common ground, and it led to them splitting.

Atl is now training at the newly re-built rink at Lee Valley.

Now that we've heard his side of the story, I can understand. You have to be comfortable in you training environment. If not, it will get you down and you will not be able to perform to your best ability.

It's just a shame that they didn't both feel the same way, because they were so good together. But, people are different.

All the best to both of them for whatever the future holds.

It will come as no surprise to anybody who watched them at the Warsaw Cup a few weeks ago and saw the body language between them, but Pairs skaters Barbora Kucianová / Martin Bidař (CZE) have split.

When they weren't on the entry list for 4 Nationals, I was pretty sure that this would turn out to be the reason.

Mariia Nosovitskaya and Mikhail Nosovitskiy (Ice Dance, Israel) have split.

When I first read this, I was shocked. After all, they are twins. They've been together since before they were born!

Well, I suppose they have to start doing things separately at some stage.

But, I wish Instagram would make it clearer when posts get embedded just who is writing these posts that have more than one username at the top. Because for the past week, I have been under the impression that it was Mariia that was looking for a new partner, and that Mikhail wasn't continuing.

And in that time all sorts of thoughts were going through my head about it maybe being because Mikhail had been called up by either the country he represents, or his country of birth. And I was naturally very worried.

But, I was just on Ice Partner Search, and spotted that Mikhail is up there. Interestingly, he is using the Ukrainian spelling of his name, rather than the spelling we have got used to seeing since he and Mariia switched to Israel.

So, that is how I realised that it was him that had posted that Instagram post, not his sister.

Social media has a lot to answer for!

In the Instagram post, you can clearly see who actually wrote/posted the post by looking at the username underneath the photo just before the description text starts (underneath the symbols to be specific).

You can see that there's only 1 username there and it's _misha_nosovytskyi_

I see that now that you have pointed it out. But when you go looking for who has posted something, you tend to look at the top of the post. And there are two names there.

Anyway, I always skip that goobledegook immediately under the picture, because I don't care how many "likes" something has, or whatever it is that those symbols mean. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. So putting the poster in amongst those is a not a good idea.

That said, a lot of the time I don't even look at the pictures. I just go straight to the text.

As you can tell, I'm not really the type of person that Instagram is designed for.

Sorry for not highlighting that. As they had not competed yet this season, I had assumed that part was old news and had already been mentioned in this thread.

Both are on IcePartnerSearch - Aliyah's profile & Tobija's profile. Their split seems to be motivated by their large age difference, with Tobija aging out of Juniors after this season and Aliyah wishing to stay in Juniors for longer.

It's always sad to see pairs split, but I'm not honestly surprised by this one. They haven't really progressed the past couple of seasons and were struggling to regain the tech min for junior worlds. They aren't ready for seniors.

I'm not surprised at the split itself (after all, they temporarily split before), but at the timing, so shortly after Nationals and in the middle of the season.

On the other hand, they didn't even manage to score above the CTES minimums at Nationals, where the scoring is usually more generous, so that might have been a factor. Probably smarter to focus on improving their jumps individually and look for a new partner now, rather than keep trying to get Jr Worlds minimums.

Someone has already included it in the OP, but I would still like to take a moment to write a short paragraph here.

2018 Junior World Champion Alexey Erokhov has announced a "career break" which is Russian for "retirement".

For the past years, Lyosha has been my favourite skater - noone else's skating has brought me so much joy. Against all odds, he gave his fans four senior seasons full of emotions and athletic prowess. There were many unforgettable happy moments cheering after clean skates and gorgeous jumps. And there were some sad ones too, when his nerves got the better of him or he struggled with injury.

Lyosha kept on going when many others would have given up.
Sadly, he never got the chance to show his best on the international senior scene.

Figure skating without Lyosha will be a little less bright for me, but I’ll always be grateful for the beautiful performances he gave his fans.
