2024-25 Junior Grand Prix Final Men's Free Skate

First two did not have any expectations than just skate their best without pressure. Or then the people downstairs ate all the cookies and left nothing for Rinky. I must go and check though I will now take a pause because it is Saturday night = Finns go to sauna.

No, the one he wears for the actual competition is not his father's costume - he only wore his father's costume for the medal ceremony in JGP Wuxi (which he sneaked in secretly lol).

This is Rio in his dad's pirate(d) costume:

Haha lovely! So what did his father skate to in this costume and when?

The same Pirates of Caribbean program  Rio himself stated that he wanted to skate to PoC because his dad skated to it as well.

As to when, I have no idea - I googled it but somehow it's actually really hard to find any info about Rio's dad's skating career :scratch2:
Can't find a video of his program, the best I could find is this picture of him with the same costume:

Thanks a lot, how cool is that to see :)

Jacob, what a transformation. Bravo :clap:I will break my shoulder patting myself on on the back here, but I have followed and rooted for Jacob for some years now. I was one of 48 people watching a Mexican livestream interview three years ago interviewing Jacob. During those year, he almost always slayed the SP, but the FS not so much.

To go from that to winning gold at the GPF, while still retaining most of his "it" factor, this year I have been gobsmacked in a good way.

Rio was not immune from the pressure any more than the rest of these young men. He just learned that he needs to skate the program as planned and not try to skate to win.
And maybe he's learned that it's not a great idea to announce that your plan is to win everything. Let your skates do your talking instead.

He's a great talent, I'd like to see him do well without attempting to create his own hype.

That's cool! It's always extra fun when you discover someone and they later blossom like you always knew they could!

Just curious - was that the Cafe con Masha show?
