2024-25 German Nationals

I don't know what that French song that Lilli REIER (NRW) was skating to was, but it was absolutely beautiful.

She goes into 7th position.

I bet that the few people in the arena were confused when Anastasia SCHÖNFELD (THR) came out onto the ice and they heard seagulls.

A nice wee programme.

She goes into 8th position.

Unfortunately, the only skater from Lower Saxony in this competition, Alena JORGUS (NIE), that was due up after her was a withdrawal.

We finish with a Michael Jackson medley, courtesy of Katarina FEDOROVA COELHO (BER).

The editing done to "Thriller" at the start left a lot to be desired. But the rest of it was good.

She was wearing a black dress, with a couple of white stripes on it.

I am really curious to find out more about this girl's background. Her name is intriguing.

EDIT: Found her ISU Bio. She was born in Portugal.

She finished in 7th position.

Right. After watching the first three skaters, am I right in thinking that the Nachwuchs girls have been split according to age? That the previous "B" competition was for the older girls, and this "A" competition is for the younger girls?

Does anybody know what age the split has been set at?

I had the same impression but have no info on the age cut. But they're so cute! :love2:

You know, when I saw the badge on the sleeve of the first girl in Group 2, Skater #8, I automatically thought "Ghostbusters". But the rest of the costume didn't say "Ghostbusters" (bearing in mind I saw a programme in Spain a couple of days ago where the partnership were wearing costumes that were authentic).

But, then the "Ghostbusters" music started! 👻

She was wearing a costume that was black and fluorescent yellow. So, I take it that is to tie in with the rest of the music she was skating to.

It was a fun programme.

She geos into 6th position.

Thank you for your links,@CaroLiza_fan 👍.

No problem, @PaulE. Glad to be of assistance.

I didn't pick up, what happened with your plans to go to Oberstdorf this season? Are you there now? Are you going some other time (perhaps for the Bavarian Open)? Or has it fallen through?

I know how much the place meant to you and your late wife. So, I hope you do get to go back.

I have been in Germany for about a week now but am having difficulty adjusting to the 9 hour time difference to my home near the west coast of the USA. I got to Oberstdorf on Sunday night but spent most of the day yesterday in bed. It took me awhile this morning to figure out how to cook breakfast😁.

After seeing you two posting while eating breakfast, I thought it was my duty as a skating fan to come applaud the young ladies. So I made to the rink for the 2nd group of the A ladies.

Yep, it always takes a while to adjust to time changes, even if it is just for daylight savings time. I've never gone through one of as much as 9 hours, though, so I dread to imagine what it is like!

Well, I hope you have a thoroughly good time. And I'll keep an eye out for you when they show shots of the audience! ;)

they just wait for the registration and then split the goup into 2. That what they do for all categories when the number of participants exceed a certain numbers (I think if there are more than 36 skaters). If there is a uneven number the elder group consists of one more skater.

At the moment I am sitting in the front row near the where the skaters enter and I have on a wrinkled light gray winter cap.

Thank you.

I did wonder what way it was done, because it seemed very suspicious the way that the two competitions managed to have basically the same number of participants. And I was wondering if there was a set number of slots for, say, under 13's and the same number for over 13's.

So, it is not a set cut-off age. The cut off is just in the middle of the field.

Good to know.

:thank:

I’m so sorry Layla had the fall. She skated fast and smooth and did a great double axel right in front of me.

Well, she still went into 2nd position, so it was not all that bad. And there were only 4 left to go after her, so the worst she can be is 6th.

But, looking at the livescoring page, she didn't get any deductions for it. And that is something I have been noticing in the younger levels all season. There are skaters that are falling, but the results table make you think they went clean.

Have they changed the rules so that you don't get your first half point deduction until you have a certain number of falls?

Maybe somebody who knows the rulebook better than I do will know what is going on.

All the names and skaters were totally new to me and it always takes me time to get something registered in my brain. However I do remember being impressed by the skaters who finished in the top 3 positions.

I was also impressed by the speed and apparent joy exhibited by the final skater, Annabell Wuchrer, who finished in 6th.

I’m glad I worked up the energy to walk over to the rink and watch the A group.
