2024-25 German Nationals

Skater #20, the last of the skaters from North Rhine Westphalia, did a programme to Middle Eastern music. And I loved it!!!

That said, there was one moment that made me cringe. She was doing my favourite skater's signature move, and threw in some arm movements that we normally see in Indian programmes. And I was like "No! Wrong culture!"

But, in the greater scheme of things, that was just a minor mistake that didn't affect anything..

She goes into the lead of both FS and overall.

I confess to being a bad fan today. The cloud level is above the mountains today so I decided to take the trip up to the Nebelhorn peak today. The peak is not shrouded in Nebel ( fog) today so it is a lovely place to sit and look out over all the mountains.

The restaurant is really modern and nice. It is, however, an expensive place to get to. With a small reduction in price from the Allgäu-Walser Card (which I got by being a paying guest in the village) it still cost €53.80. Since I can afford it I am very glad to be up here relaxing and enjoying the view 😍.

What a strange programme from Xenia PAPST (B-W).

She was skating to "The Crack of Doom" by The Tiger Lillies. Now, that in itself should give you an idea of how strange a programme it was. But, she was wearing a white blouse, with two black hand prints on her back, as if somebody with dirty hands had been hugging her. And there were other black handprints on her shoulders. She was also wearing black PVC leggings.

It was so strange that I loved it!

Unfortunately I missed Joceline Maria IYEKE (HES). One of our neighbours sold her house recently, and she is going around her neighbours this morning saying goodbye. She and her husband were already here when my parents moved into this house 42 years ago. Since Harry died, she has been living with her sister, but held onto her own house. But she decided a few months ago that it is now the right time to sell it.

I know she hasn't been around properly for a few years, but it is still sad when your long-time neighbours leave. And you don't know what the replacements are going to be like.

Hey, I'm not going to judge. It's the middle of December - you may as well make the most of the good weather while it is there! And I am sure it is worth it!

Plus, you can always catch up on what you have missed on the archived stream when you return home.

I'm not going to see everything today either. In fact, the Nachwuchs FS competitions that are currently on will probably be the last that I watch from the German Championships this week. The Russian Championships are starting tomorrow, and I have a lot of stuff that I have to get done before the skating starts at what is 7am here.

It is such a shame that they clash, because I was enjoying the German skaters. But, hey, at least this is getting archived. I don't know if Russia will be.

No, that's not what you want to see going into the interval. A skater sitting there crying while waiting for her scores.

:ghug:

Anastasia SCHÖNFELD (THR) goes into 6th in the FS, and 5th overall.

And in a nice coincidence, it is her team-mate from Eissportclub Erfurt, Lenja RETZLAFF (THR), that is currently 5th in the FS, and 6th overall.

I'm eating at the moment, but wanted to comment about the first two girls of the final group.

I liked Alessia KORRO (BAY), the girl coached by Karel Fayfr ( ), again today. She was skating to "Boogie Wonderland" by Earth, Wind & Fire.

And she seemed happy enough, until the scores came through. And her face dropped.

She went into 5th in the FS, and 2nd overall.

Then it was the turn of Katarina FEDOROVA COELHO (BER), the half Portuguese girl. She was skating to a jazz cover of "Seven Nation Army".

I loved it!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

She went into the lead of both FS and overall.

OK, so I'll comment about the third girl too, Valeria HUBER (B-W), because she was skating to my favourite Shakira song, "Objection".

Valeria was not wearing black like Shakira was in this clip from the video. She was wearing a red Olè dress. 💃 Which is fitting for a tango.

I loved it!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

She goes into the lead of both FS and overall.

Oh, dear. Not a great skate from the girl that was in 2nd after the SP, Luisa SEIFERT (SAS).

I think she had 2 falls.

She seems very tall. I'm not saying she's had a growth spurt since yesterday, but I wonder if it is affecting her in the longer programme.

She goes into 6th in the FS, and 5th overall.

"Thunderstruck"!!!!!!

And then "Highway To Hell"!!!!!!

That was great from Adelina VOROTELIAK (BAY)!!! What a way to finish the competition!!!

Oh, and she is a member of the Oberstdorf club. So, you can imagine the reaction when she finished.

She already had a massive lead going into the FS. So, she has definitely won. It's just a question of by how much.

By nearly 25 points overall!!! :jaw:

That's really a huge lead! Well done! She definitely had the most fans at the event :D I saw her at the Nebelhorn gala, she's really good. And Junior eligible next year, yay!

Isn't it just. Normally in Novice level competitions you get the entire field covered by a lot less than what she won by!

It will be interesting to see what she can do in Juniors.

I'm going to be cautious, though, because a couple of skaters that I really liked in Novices (to the extent that I adopted them on here) have been really struggling since they moved to Juniors at the start of the season.

We complete the Nachwuchs (Advanced Novice) competitions with 10 boys.

I'm not sure whether I'm watching a boy or a girl?! Black skates are suggestive of a boy, but that could be a dangerous assumption to make...

We finished the girls with a programme to rock music that I love, and we start the boys with a programme to rock music that I love.

Earlier, it was a couple of AC/DC songs. This time it was "Eye Of The Tiger" by Survivor.

Jamie SCHÖBEL (SAS) is not quite at the same level as we saw 20 minutes ago.

But, fair play to him.

Dangerous indeed. A few weeks ago I saw a girl wearing black skates, and it really messed with my head because of the way we have been indoctrinated to expect girls to wear white and boys to wear black.

I wonder how that came about in the first place. The only thing I can think of is that it is derived from wedding costumes, i.e. white dress and black suit.

The current lad (Seraphim?) has very pure spin positions. Whoever is coaching him is clearly very strict on precision with those, which should give good foundations for later.

I honestly couldn't tell from his appearance which gender Jamie was, and it didn't help that Jamie can be either a male or female name! I started watching the stream partway through his programme.
