2025 European Championships Women's Short Program

This dress looks more like an apron, I'm sorry

Funny you should say that. Because in the past 2 weeks, I have seen 3 different skaters who were wearing dresses that made me think of aprons.

The first was from the Volvo Open Cup:

Oh no. The first skater of Group 2, Sofiia HRYHORENKO (UKR), has stopped during her programme.

She was wearing a white vest with a black skirt. The skirt was tied together like an apron, and the strings came apart. And she immediately signalled that she wanted to stop.

After she stopped, she bent over double. So perhaps it is more than a costume issue.

She then went over to talk to the officials for a long time. And the music played on the whole time.

Now she's coming off the ice, tying the strings at the same time. But it looks like she isn't coming back.

Yep, the next skater has come out, and is warming up.

And the other two from the Ephesus Cup:

I have seen many "Swan Lake" programmes over the years. But Deniz TARIM (TUR)'s costume has to be the strangest I have seen worn for one.

It's black and white, which is not unusual. It fits the story well.

But, it looks like she is wearing a white dress with a black apron over it. And that is unusual. It just looks odd for a ballet.

Nevertheless, she skated well.

The crowd is back. Yep, she's another local skater. Although, interestingly, she was born in Hong Kong.

She goes into 5th position.

Skater #14 was doing a "Wizard Of Oz" programme ("Somewhere Over The Rainbow", with a little bit of "We're Off To See The Wizard" at the end), and was dressed just like Judy Garland was in the film. I thought she was good, but she went into 11th position.

But, I didn't get it from Niki's dress. Sorry.

I'm going to really embarrass myself here.

During the Warm-Up, Chris mentioned that Flora Marie SCHALLER (AUT) had competed at Skate Chile, and I was going to crack a joke about skating in the cold. ("Skate Chilly", get it?)

But then I decided to keep it serious, and was going to ask @jorge2912 about the event, because I couldn't find out anything about it, and I was impressed that Flora Marie had gone all the way there.

So, I looked up her Rink Results bio. And that was when it suddenly dawned on me. Chris was tallking about Skate Celje. :palmf:
