2025 European Championships Men's Free Skate

Re: the discussed selection for Italians at Worlds:

For World Championships and World Team Trophy: the ranking is calculated by summing the total score of the Italian Senior Elite Championships with the 3 highest total scores obtained in the A or B competitions, as indicated in Para B, art. 2 and 3, multiplied by the respective coefficients indicated in points 4 and 5.
At least one of the three competitions valid for the calculation of the ranking and related designations must take place in the year the Championships/World Team Trophy is held.

Articles 2-3-4-5 mentioned above are

2. Type A competitions include:
- Italian Junior and Senior Championships, Elite bracket
- Challenger Series events
- ISU Championships
- ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and series (Grand Prix races)
- ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Fina land series (Junior Grand Prix races)
- ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating
- Figure Skating Olympic Qualifying Competition
- EYOF
- YOG
- Olympic Games
- World University Games
3. Type B competitions belong to:
- International competitions in the ISU calendar not listed in Article 2
- Interclub competitions on the FISG calendar
- International interclub competitions in the ISU calendar
- Elite Group Italian Championship Trials
4. Type A competitions have full value (100%): the total score is not multiplied by any coefficient.
5. Type B races have reduced value (95%): the total score is multiplied by 0.95. Only one type B race (the best) can have full value for ranking calculation purposes.

I mean, some of them stop on the middle, but at least they move their arms prettily. Adam just...lies there.

Back in the day, we used to laughingly call it a "smoke break" when a skater stopped skating and just waved his arms around. Catching a little rest before resuming the actual skating portion of the program.

But Adam definitely takes it to a new level.

Exactly. He has the more normal "smoke break" when he stops again later and waves his arms around a little. The fact that he has the lie down PLUS the pause later is what offends me, lol. Egregious!

Great podium. Memola an incredible athlete to control his 1.95m frame on the ice as he does.

Protocols update - people who have not dropped any levels in steps/spins: Adam Siao Him Fa. End of list. 🤣

People who had all clean jumps (no rotation/edge issues, positive GOE and no pops): absolutely no one (though Lukas was close with just one negative GOE).

Program where Shin Amano had the most fun: Daniel Grassl, ! << q q < F! (exactly one clean pass).

His name is Benoit Richaud and the choreo is based on what happens in the film Dune 2 which is what happens on the center ice, unless someone is in need of an optometrist. If so, call 1-8XX-I CANT-SEE.

Adam and Kevin should do nothing between now and Worlds. Heal up, rest, and train smartly.

Adam, Lukas, Hase/Volodin, Ilia, and others are all scheduled for Art on Ice, a 9-day tour in Switzerland, starting next week. I have no idea why these skaters feel that doing 9 shows just a month before Worlds is a good idea.

It's a stupid idea.

This was exciting!

Daniel Weiss reached new lows with his commentating. He was absolutely mean about some skaters (basically called Appleby unworthy of the Europeans and recommended Kevin quit competitive skating), went on totally unimportant tangents and sprinkled in a bunch of misinformation (like assuming Adam wouldn't do the backflip because he might get a deduction :what:). This guy needs to get gone.

My hero of the evening is Shin Amano. Thank you.

I absolutely couldn't believe my eyes when Deniss landed not one but two quads, and the combo looked damn good too. That was probably my skate of the evening, although Lukas was also really impressive. He deserves the gold.

A shame about Adam and Matteo. I hope Adam will take some time off to heal properly. I love his skating, but not like this.

I would have loved got the Selevko bros to skate better, but it could have been worse I guess. Not sure what to do with Kevin...he did so well earlier this season...

Yeah it's crazy especially Adam already with an injury (that seems not healed). I'm not sure if it's the same tour, but Hendrickx is delaying her surgery to skate in some show. With Olympics 12 months away, she has been out of action since around October, surgery is something that should have been decided months ago to give maximum preparation for the Olympics (and the next season). Strange choices.

are you familiar with the ballet La Bayadere?
No, I just heard the music. I haven't had a chance to see it in an opera house and couldn't bring myself to watching it on youtube. We'll see it with the kiddo sooner or later. We've been through some by Delibes and Adan, now it's Minkus's turn. It's just not cheap.

i'm broke, so i always watch online. you can watch ballet at the cinema though, check the royal ballet page, there're all the details you need (before the war Marinsky theater and Bolshoj also had their cinema season, but it is what it is)

It's money and contracts. There is very little money in FS, so skaters participate in shows and they probably have fines for breaking the contract.
