2025 Four Continents Pairs Short Program

I haven't really paid much attention to them this season, but Lia Pereira looks... a bit different? Their physical match seems to have improved.

Can't say I'm surprised by S/D performance, it's not quite the right time to peak. But also, I have a hard time seeing Maxime in this music.

Looks like Alisa's jumps are getting better, good for her.

My heart is breaking a bit for Deanna and Max. This is really not their season so far...and from a psychological perspective they would have needed two clean skates really badly. This can't just be Max's illness still bothering him or her accident that she apparently had before coming to Seoul. I feel like something is messing with their heads and I hope they can figure it out soon. I mean better now than next season but I hope this doesn't carry over.
they need to peak in a month from now...
it's really hard to win a world championship
it's even harder to win a second one.

Good job by the Japanese who look like the stars they are. And great job by Kam and Oshea and Lia and Trennt. I think the big thing is that it appears tthe judges are willing to dump Deanna and Max. Look at the pcs. If they wanted to h old up the world champs they could have easily given them a couple of points which would have them in second. Now it is not impossible for Deanna and Max to still win silver but they no longer are the favoured team and will not be held up llike we have seen when say Chock and Bates made mistakes. The Germans and the pure talent of the Japanesse make them look the strongest.

I hope they will at least medal. Here and in Boston.
I think they will medal at 4CC.
I also think that they should get bronze at worlds. At this point, that's my prediction.

for 4cc, i think the Japanese will take it (same at worlds)
I am not sure Ellie and Danny will land their throws in the LP.
I think Lia and Trennt may be nervous considering they could get a medal at 4CC.
i don't trust Alisa to land her jumps and I find him very bland.

So, I am thinking that Max and Deanna, will not be perfect in the LP... but will do enough for a medal at 4CC.

Tbh for Worlds I didn't see them winning even at the beginning of the season 🙈 but a medal would be nice. Minerva and Nikita and Riku/Ryu are the ones besides D/M I see on that podium...

Ellie and her throws and Alisa and her jumps...yeah tomorrow is going to be interesting for certain.

well...

they had two mistakes so the PCS reflected that.

but if you look carefully, the judges didn't dump them. their mistakes were not very costly in GOE.

The element where they lost the second place was the death spiral. Deanna and Max usually get level 4s on all elements, including the DS.. and they didn't this time while other teams, who rarely nail these got higher level on their death spiral.

They lost 0.8 in BV plus the GOE factoring so over a point.

So even with the mistakes, if they had just earned their usual level 4 on the DS, they would in in second place.

It is close for silver and bronze. I was thinking the japanese might finally show their dominance. Once the Russians were gone and Chinese retired I thought the Japanese would rule pairs. Instead it has been the team of the year. No one has been super dominant from the Japanese to the Americans to the Canadians and now it looks like the Germans. So odd not to see a strong Chinese team. This is not the golden era for pairs. I think of the passing of Shishkova and Naumov and in their era they were clearly behind Gordeeva and Grinkov, Artur and his partners and B/S. But with so many very good teams but not great teams right now it is exciting because anyone can win. I still thinkif the Japanese get it together they are unbeatable.

Chinese Olympic figure skater who won gold in 2022, plans to compete in the 2026 ?

Watching now...
Audrey Shin and Balazs Nagy. I am very, very impressed how much this pair has accomplished in such a short time. Bravo:clap:IMHO, Audrey have all the gifts, all the potential and the great talent to be a wonderful (even a brilliant) pair girl. The only thing she is lucking is self confidence. Watching their short... I was left in impression that Audrey sort of does not feel equally good to/for Nagy and each mistake she makes for her is like an earthquake with a heavy rain of self reproach. The girl needs to believe in herself!!
Nagy, apart from his excellent skating skills, seems to be a great, great support to Audrey. Bravo to both of them and I wish them redemption in free skate.

I thought they got a little hosed on GOE on their SBS 3Ts, not that it would change their score that much.

I knew a fall on a throw would come in competition sooner or later, but prior to this short, she's either landed it or had a step out.

I think the 3 twist is still a work in progress, and I give them credit for going for it now even if it's not the most comfortable element yet. Given how new Audrey is to pairs, I didn't think we'd see a 3 twist attempt at all this season. Maybe they'll stick with a double in the FS like they did at Nationals.

I have no idea how the free will go, but I thought Pereira/Michaud should have been second in the short. Undermarked.
Agree.
Lia and Trennt indeed skated exceptionally well and Trennt finally seems to get into the performance mood.
On the other hand, Kam/O'Shea SP choreography is very appealing and it might be a factor for judges. Just my opinion.
