2024-25 Federation Cup Final

Much better than at Junior Nationals of course, but this didn't look comfortable and confident at all. Yes, she landed everything except for the 3A, but most landings were a bit of a fight.

Still, well done to Margo. It can't have been easy mentally to come back from Jr Nats and then fall on the 3A to start the program and to afterwards keep on fighting and to get through the rest of the program as well as she did.

They gave that girl less CO and PR than Elena truly stupendous
With a fall, they technically have to reduce the PCS. That they don't always do this is unfortunate & probably due to misunderstanding the rules, but it doesn't mean it's wrong for the judges to do so.
(Without a fall, Alisa gets PCS in the range of 8.15 to 8.25 in each component, so about a 0.2 reduction each)

Last time I said that everyone said I was wrong. I dont see in the rules where they "technically" have to reduce anything. I have no idea how a composition score can go down for a fall. That makes literally zero sense. Elena was like 5 seconds off the music. The program doesnt even have a composition.

Lots of people don't actually know the scoring system very well, but have loud opinions.

From Communication No. 2623:
"If a program contains 1 Serious error, the maximum score for each program component is 9.50.
If a program contains 2 or more Serious errors, the maximum score for each program component is 8.75.
Serious errors are falls and/or mistakes which result in a break in the delivery of the program. This break can be minimal or more pronounced and noticeable.
These errors must be reflected in the mark awarded for each program component. The consequence depends on the severity and impact they have on the fluidity and continuity of the program.
Similar limitations must be applied to all levels of Skaters from extremely poor to outstanding."

Late finishes like this also should heavily affect PCS IMO.

In my opinion too, but only falls are explicitly spelled out in the rules, so if judges already don't really consistently care about that, other errors are even less likely to be punished.

I am being honest here trying to learn the system I dont know why you have to be passive aggressive. I did not say anything offensive at all. I held your position before but I got mauled in the thread for suggesting a skater should've had lower PCS for falls, now the reverse is happening. Its really amazing. Thanks for giving me your source. Its too bad Elena's marks did not reflect her finishing the entire spin without any music playing. This should be reflected in her marks.

My "Lots of people don't actually know the scoring system very well, but have loud opinions." was about the people who "corrected" your correct position, not about you.

"Serious errors" (apart from falls) is not very well defined, unfortunately, so there is certainly enough discussion topics without completely throwing the rules out of the window. A pop for example is a serious error for the TES score, but for PCS? Debatable.

Fair enough.

It was very close. I would've still had Alisa winning but I've seen worse.
