3rd Maria Olszewska Memorial 2025 | Mar 5-9

Skater #11 was doing a "Wonder Woman" programme. And she was really good.

However, I have to admit, I was a bit uncomfortable with seeing a skater this young dressed in a Wonder Woman suit.

Her coach seems stern.

My goodness! They are trying to fit the coach, the skater, and 3 much older team-mates onto the 4 chairs. And there simply isn't enough room for them all! The wee girl is getting squashed!

But she goes into the lead.

It's Emma, she podiums in almost every comp she attends. I think she has this program since last season. She will probably remain in the lead for some time.

There were two more withdrawals during Group 2. Skaters #13 and #15.

So, with four withdrawals so far, it means we now have an extra long interval before the final two groups.

Back in just under 40 minues.

Yep. That's her.

Just to explain - I tend to avoid using names when talking about skaters under Advanced Novice. Which makes discussions very difficult to follow, but I don't want to take any chances with any child protection rules.

Thank you for the additional information. Very interesting!

Her mom has SM profiles for her and posts info about her and various fundraisers to cover the costs of training. In summer they travel a lot to find ice to train. I think you can see that she takes FS seriously, not as a hobby. I hope she stays healthy and develops.

Now that was perfect timing. I just finished watching the episode of "Huckleberry Finn And Friends" that was on this morning when I was watching the skating, and the stream went back to the rink!

Final two groups coming up now.

Yep, I did a search during the Warm-Up, and I see what you mean. They definitely take it very seriously.

It'll be interesting to see how she progresses in the years to come. She certainly looks promising right now.

I'll keep an eye out for her in future. (She's got the same surname as another famous sportswoman, so she'll be easy for me to spot!)

Now that programme from the Lithuanian girl was very, erm, different.

I don't know how you would describe it. It was like something out of a Tim Burton film.

But, in a weird way, I enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, I missed catching her position on screen because of writing this post. And the livescoring stopped working early on in the previous group.

EDIT: It has started working again. Skater #25 went into what was 9th position at the time.

Now that the Interclub part of the event has been completed, we move to the ISU part of the event for the rest of the day. And we take a break from Singles skating for the first Pairs competitions of the week.

Doing their Short Programmes are a group of 2 Advanced Novice partnerships; followed by a group of 2 Junior partnerships.

Awww. baby pairs... Canada has Jazzy and Kiki... but this is a new pair of Jazzy and Niki :)

Yes, I know that the age difference is only 2¾ years. But the size difference between Ava and Stephen makes it look inappropriate.

I don't know this partnership, but I'm guessing that Stephen has had a growth spurt since they got together. But, no doubt Ava wll have one soon too.

The main thing is that they are good. And promising for the future.
