3rd Maria Olszewska Memorial 2025 | Mar 5-9

Sorry, I forgot to say when we came back from the resurfacing that all the Bronze level girls would be in the three groups leading to the next resurfacing.

We started with a combined group of U18 and U12 skaters; a second group of U12 skaters are currently doing their Warm-Up; and the final group is the U15 skaters.

I don't know about anybody else, but I am finding it strange using this terminology. Normally when you talk about "Gold", "Silver", and "Bronze" levels, you are talking about Adult skating.

I wish every country's Fed would use the same naming system for the levels.

The U12's is the only Bronze level competition today with international skaters. Three Lithuanian girls.

The first, Skater #2, was in Group 1. And when she was getting her scores, the other two (Skaters #5 and #6) and an older team-mate were sitting with her.

She went into the lead, but has since been overtaken by a Polish girl.

Group 2 starts with the other two going back-to-back. Skater #5 had Skater #2 and this older girl sitting with her.

She went into the lead.

And when Skater #6 was getting her scores, all four of them were sitting together again.

She went into 4th position.

Skaters #7 and #8 both withdrew, which resulted in us finishing with back-to-back Indila programmes!

Different songs, though. The last Lithuanian girl, Skater #6, had "Dernière Danse", while the last Polish girl, Skater #9, had "Tourner Dans Le Vide".

She had a very strange fall where she basically sat on the ice when she was going to the spot where she would do her finishing position.

It didn't upset her, though. She and her coach were chatting and joking away afterwards. They were probably laughing at that incident!

She finishes in 7th position.

They're still laughing!

The Bronze U15 Ladies FS started with Hannah RADY (POL) skating to "Man, I Feel Like A Woman" by Shania Twain.

How appropriate to have a Ladies competition starting with the words "Let's go girls!"

Oh. My. Goodness!!!

The final skater, Zuzanna MANIECKA (POL), was wrapped up in tin foil like a Christmas turkey!

Well, not really. It wasn't like when ABBA did literally wrap themselves in tin foil:

It was just a silver metallic dress. And very nice it was too.

But, I do think this photo was her inspiration, because she was skating to "Gimme Gimme Gimme". The original ABBA version, not a cover.

And she got right down to business, starting with a pretty good jump!

Afterwards, she had some team-mates with her for getting her results.

She won.

And you should have heard the screams of delight coming from them all!

We come back from the resurfacing to a group containing all of the older Silver level skaters. 4 U15 girls; followed by 2 U18 girls; followed by 1 U18 boy.

Hey, somebody pulled the plug on the stream just after the skaters entered the ice for the Warm-Up!

Phew. It started broadcasting again just before the end of the Warm-Up.

Wow! What a contrast between the opening and closing programmes in Silver U15 girls.

We started with Alicja MLOTECKA (POL) wearing an orange dress, skating a lively uptempo programme.

She would go on to finish in 3rd position.

And we ended with Marta SOWINSKA (POL) wearing a black dress with gold pattern, skating to heavy metal music!

WHAT?! Now they are playing "Sex Bomb" by Tom Jones while she is waiting for her scores! :palmf:

She finishes in 2nd position, 2.12 points ahead of Mlotecka.

And now, taking us to the next resurfacing, we have a group containing the older Gold level skaters. 2 U15 girls; followed by 4 U18 girls.

Incidentally, the younger Gold level skaters will come on after the resurfacing. And, confusingly, they will be on a different Entries / Results page.

Awwww. The reaction when the final skater in Gold U18, Iga SZELEJAK (POL), found out she had won.

It was genuine shock. She couldn't believe it.

So heartwarming to see.

We return from the resurfacing, and move to the "Interclub" Entries / Results page, to conclude the Gold level competitionss with the younger skaters. 2 U13 boys; followed by 19 U13 girls.

No, I don't understand either why the U13's are on a different Entries / Results page to the rest of the Gold level competitions.

Awwwww, the boy who got second place just said it's his record, adorable and mom/coach was like "not so loud" :laugh4:

Yeah, it's easy for these kids to forget that there are microphones catching what they are saying.

I don't know whether to feel jealous of you or not for understanding what is being said.

I can imagine that some of the stuff being said amongst the groups of girls that we see in the results area is pretty juicy! :p

But it is so nice to see team-mates supporting each other.

They are not saying anything bad or rude, some are goofing, some are delivering quite mature analysis of the performance

I expected there to be goofing. ;)

That is what I love about the World Team Trophy. Seeing the skaters competing in a more relaxed atmosphere, messing about and showing their personalities.

Thank goodness there is one this season. I wish it was held every year.

I just wanted to comment about Skater #7. She was skating to "Loyal Brave True" from "Mulan". And everything looked spot on for the theme. The costume, the make-up, the hair, everything!

And the skating was just as good!

She goes into the lead by a big margin.

And deservedly so!

CaroLiza_fan

Skaters #8 and #9 were withdrawals, so we went straight onto Skater #10. And she was wearing a lime green jumpsuit.

Bit of a contrast to what the skater on before her was wearing!

Awwwww. She not only had some team-mates with her for getting her results, but she was holding a baby! So adorable!

EDIT: I just did a bit of digging, and the baby is her brother.

I didn't catch her position on the graphic, and the livescoring has got confused by the withdrawals.

CaroLiza_fan

Hang on. The livescoring has updated and, according to it, Skater #11 was the only withdrawal. Skaters #8 and #9 were there.

So, maybe it was the graphics, or me (more likely!), that got confused.

Anyway, if the "Mulan" programme was actually by Skater #9, what I said still stands. Because Skater #9 is leading.

CaroLiza_fan

Just to clear up the confusion once and for all.

The "Mulan" programme was definitely Skater #9. I did a search for Skater #9's name, and a professional photographer took a photo of her doing this programme at a previous competition, and posted it to Instagram.

Back to the present, and she won.
