3rd Maria Olszewska Memorial 2025 | Mar 5-9

So let me get this straight. We have had Canadians in 5 competitions so far. And after the Short Programme segments, we have:

🇨🇦 1st in Advanced Novice A Ladies SP
🇨🇦 1st in Advanced Novice B Ladies SP
🇨🇦 1st in Advanced Novice Men's SP
🇨🇦 1st in Advanced Novice Pairs SP
🇨🇦 1st in Junior Pairs SP

No question about it. They gotta get out more!

After that very brief sejourn into Pairs skating, we return to Singles skating for all the Advanced Novice Free Skate programmes.

Same running order as we had yesterday. The 25 B girls; then the 7 boys; then the 14 A girls.

Yes, I know that the age difference is only 2¾ years. But the size difference between Ava and Stephen makes it look inappropriate.

I don't know this partnership, but I'm guessing that Stephen has had a growth spurt since they got together. But, no doubt Ava wll have one soon too.

The main thing is that they are good. And promising for the future.

as you said yourself, he's grown young and she has some left to grow but it's definitely not looking inappropriate. Sorry... 2, even 3 years difference is exactly the appropriate age gap desired by many. It is natural to look for taller skaters for pair boys and shorter girls for pair girls.. What is not natural is to CREATE this solely by an 6-7 years age gap. Definitely not the case here.

I will watch on and off.... i have to go see my hairdresser at some point and run some errands before a short day of work... this week was spring break so i only had half my kids... :) I feel rejuvenated myself.

Yep, I had a feeling that was the case. Having temporary huge height differences like this can happen with teenagers. It'll all even back out in the end.

And once it does, I am sure we are going to forget that there ever was a huge difference.

So, I hope that they don't break up in the meantime, thinking that this is the way it will stay. Because they are good.

As I said to one of your compatriots yesterday, just be aware that this is a stream that you can't pause or re-wind. And which goes private at the end of the day.

With how well your skaters are doing here, it would be a shame if you missed any of them.

It's funny how he looks exactly like his mom :) I've been following him for some time, he will be a decent skater.

I was unfortunate in that the first time I saw Ryszard, he had a disaster skate. And he was bawling his eyes out the whole time afterwards. And Mariusz just sat there giving him no attention.

And the next time I saw him, he didn't have a great skate either. ALthough, it wasn't as bad as the first time.

But, he is definitely improving.

Drat! I didn't realise that the livescoring page had frozen again.

I wanted to see Nadia IGNACZAK (POL) getting her results, because I wanted to see if her sister Lena (who was 2nd in Advanced Novice Solo Dance) would be sitting with her.

But I thought she was the next to skate. So, I wrote about Ryszard Siudek instead. And only realised when Anna Ruis was introduced.

Right, I'll ask you what I wanted to try to work out, @Karoltyna, since you might know. Are Nadia and Lena twins?

i saw these skaters at our national event for novices :) and some of them for juniors.. i saw lia cho from the rink.. she's impressive. i am aware we cannot pause/rewind but i cannot watch 60 skaters today :) so whatever i get to see, great.. the rest.. oh well.

it doesn't always do. some girls are just petite and that has its advantages for pairs.

i didn't see any problem with them to be quite frank.

she will need better jumps but yes, at this point, they are good... but they have stiff competition at home

Bradie is on the entry list. 👀

It's nice to see Alexa Gasparatto getting an international assignment, too.
I’m curious and curious, as to why Bradie is competing .
I have two theories. She loves competing and wants one more international assignment. My other theory is if she thinks she can win, and if something happens to the world team, she’ll be put on it. Any thoughts?

I think she wants the World Standing points since she lost so much time due to injury.

Sorry for distracting you. Unfortunately I don't know if they are twins.

It is very possible that she wins. As much as I love Katia, I don't think she can beat clean Bradie this season, even with home bonus.

Wow!! The Lithuanian 🇱🇹 girl was in so many tears after her free skate. I wish some of these girls would put less pressure on themselves. They did their best and there is always another event or season to do better.
