2025 World Championships Men's Free Skate

I enjoyed listening to Chris and Kirsten Moore-Towers more than I thought. Chris is kind of a Dick Button with his old-timer comments and Kirsten really did her homework with comments about the skaters. I really liked Kirsten's honest and enthusiastic "c'mon!" when a skater was struggling or needed an extra boost at the end of a performance.

Just exhausted but in a good way. After Alysa's win last night and all of these men from Deniss to Ilia, what a night. They brought it. Makes looking forward to next season bearable.
Congrats to Ilia and Mikhail and Yuma. And all the men in the top 10, you did your country proud. Congratulations Ilia and to the USA, 3 gold medals. Bravo!

I’m still processing everything that I witnessed at the arena and will post more tomorrow. Two quick things I had to mention:

1. Lots of great performances but Jason fed my soul. Everything was gorgeous and I’m so happy I got to witness it.

2. I would have given Jun more PCS. Everything he does has flair! He’s even more impressive live.

You're missing the point--that's not what I was talking about. Another poster was complaining that Ilya's high PCS was excessive. (I actually agree with this poster on that point). What I was saying above that it doesn't really matter when Ilya has so much of a TES advantage, even if the judges gave Ilya PCS equivalent to Shaidorov (82.5), his total score would still be well into 1st place. And Ilya certainly deserves more PCS than Shaidorov based on what each put on the ice tonight.
Thanks for the clarification. I agree.

I absolutely loved Kirsten. Can she do all the events, please?

US what to do about Andrew. Last Worlds he was 21st and now 22nd. He's trending down. Is it a buy a hold or a sell? Please next year Jimmy or an upcoming Jr.
If a 30 year old makes the Olympic team next year it's a sad statement on the younger skaters let's face it Jimmy despite his Bronze medal at 4CC is not really what you call among the elite skaters in the world.

Yeah Nathan had a least a couple more years left in him but it just wouldn't have been fair to face him and Ilia that would have been the best skating duo of all time better then Yagudin and Plushenko.
Man that would have been legendary. I am not sure that Nathan had a 4A in him, but he also tended to be somewhat more consistent than Ilia has been thus far. I do think Nathan could have upped his tech a bit more than he did (lets be real... no one was pushing him during his quad of dominance).

What could have been...

if the judges are just looking away to scam with the point system why and why in the hell did we change the judging system

And he will get better as he's only 20.
it's possible... or it may change. I know that a lot of young men keep filling in in their early twenties. So his body could change. His timing could too.. He could also get injuries... etc

I am not trying to wish him ill... not my point.. but we never know about these things.

Yep, Cha should be close to Jason in PCS and Yuma when he is on......

Yeah wish they could give out two golds each for Worlds and Olympics, one for PCS and one for jumps LOL

We already have a discipline with no jumps in ice dance... where consistency is the rule and the top teams all have similar tech score potential.

.... and don't think anyone would claim that the scoring there is more fair. A PCS medal would lead to an increase in corruption in scoring... not a decrease.
