2025 World Championships Men's Free Skate

Looking at the protocols, the only skater in the Top 10 in the free who got an UR call from the tech panel (< , not just a q), was Deniss, they were certainly quite lenient tonight.

Does anyone know the lady who was sitting next to Nika Egadze and Eteri while they were waiting for his scores? The lady looked like she could be Eteri's sister.

The two French skaters should file a complaint against the judges and judging system here.
Japanese skater finished whopping 10th.

They can only go for one additional spot for the Olympics, but they do have 3 for Worlds next year.
Ah so that's where it's different from Worlds spots allocation, thanks for clarifying.

As an extra info for anyone else also confused, here's a quote from the official ISU Olympics qualifying page:
  • If only one Skater/Couple competes at the World Championships: the Skater/Couple must finish in the top 10 to have a chance to earn a second Olympic spot at the second Olympic qualifying event in Beijing for their country.

So sounds like the most any country can earn from the Qualifying Event is an extra 1 spot.

Well, I hope Dias can pull it off in Beijing, would be cool to have 2 Kazakh men in the Olympics

Can we now end debate about whether Jason belonged on the team ????? I believe once again that question has been resoundingly answered
Well...no. I am personally not a fan and I don't think he belonged in the top 10.
But I guess he saved the US 3 spots, even if I would have had him behind Deniss.
So mission accomplished I guess.

If a 30 year old makes the Olympic team next year it's a sad statement on the younger skaters let's face it Jimmy despite his Bronze medal at 4CC is not really what you call among the elite skaters in the world.
Actually I believe winning a medal at an ISU championship does indeed make one one of the elite skaters in the world. Most skaters at Worlds have not won a medal at an ISU championship.

I’d also love to normalize men (and women) skating past 30, taking breaks and doing shows and coming back, etc

With this result, Kazakhstan has a chance to grab two more Olympic spots in the qualifier, is that correct?

We have Dias Jirenbayev, do we have another Kazakh man who can contend for these spots?
If the Russian guys knew that Shaidorov would become such a success story, they would have lined up for a Kazak passport 1-2 years ago. It's too late for them now.

Yes! Yes! Yes Ilia and well deserved! Nothing wrong with being confident. I did like Ilia's free skate from last year a bit better since he popped a jump here but good enough. Stay healthy, dear Ilia.

Misha really surprised me by bypassing Yuma. Misha has really grown on me. Congrats to the top 3.

Nice skate from Kevin. And thanks to Jason for saving a seat for the U.S.
