I am a little bit disappointed that Anastasia Vaipan-Law and Luke Digby only have one spot - I know they were only top 24 SB, and not top 10 at Worlds, but I had thought they might get two spots because pairs who were in a similar position last season did. Edit: Just found the Kovalevs listed for NHK.

That surprised me, I thought they would have maxed out their spotsInteresting. Ilia passes on Skate America so he can end the GP's earlier. USA gives one of its host picks to a non-American man - Jason plus one TBD American man at SkAm.

That is sensible from USFS. both were eligible for two spots. If either was given a host spot at SA, that would have meant one less US overall across the GP series. Having both pairs go elsewhere for both assignments means that USFS can use the SA host spots for pairs with one or no spots.I am very surprised that neither Alisa/Misha or Ellie/Danny are at SA![]()
Why don't they go down the SB list? It seemed they've invited not from the top, but from the bottom. The Brits, Italy2, Germany2, Poland they all deserve a second GP before the lower ranked teams in the SB list.Pairs...
Sui and Han back.No Kovalevs, even for a host spot.

Top 24 is guaranteed a spot, they are supposed to give a spot to those lower ranked teams if they're in the SB 24.Why don't they go down the SB list? I wouldn't be so sure. We have no idea how the returning teams will perform. Fear and Gibson beat the Italian team at the 2023 NHK trophy (and beat the world gold and silver medallists during the 2024 gran prix). It's the nearest they can get to skating at home as they have a big fanbase in Japan. They always do well there. The top 3 teams at worlds also tend to get more of a say about which Grand Prix they compete at too. I would've been shocked if they'd not been assigned to NHK.Ice dance
Don't think being in the top 3 seeds, but the team with last pick, has worked out very well for Fear/Gibson. They are likely to be 3rd place in both their GP events, which wouldn't be enough for the GPF. Fournier-Beaudry/Cizeron and Guignard/Fabbri likely to place above them at GPdF and Guignard/Fabbri and Shibutanis at NHK. I know that FB/C and S/S are returning skaters, but they wouldn't be coming back if they weren't likely to be at the very top.
