that's what i thought too... it's too bulkyHonest opinion on the costume. I think it looks too heavy. What do you think?
I usually don't have an opinion on costumes, unless they are ridiculous. This one might not be to my taste, but it's not terrible.Honest opinion on the costume. I think it looks too heavy. What do you think?
Yeah I wanted to start sweating just looking at it. It looks bulky.that's what i thought too... it's too bulky
It's sad that the US Men are so mediocre right now that a nearly 30 year old journeyman like Jimmy is even being considered for the Olympic team. No knock on him but he would not even be a thought about making the team in the past but besides Illia and Jason everyone else has just been bad for over 5 years now.I am going to be brutally honest here. I really think that battle as of right now is between Jacob, Jimmy, and Lucas. I have a lot of empathy for Maxim for his loss but facts are facts here and if the USFS goes by their own criteria here where body of work is a major component and Maxiim is well behind the other 3 at this point. He needed to find any way to build that body of work and Cranberry Cup would have been good place to start doing that and since this was at his home rink as well he should have been there to at least try. If he does not go to Lombardia to compete I think that will be the kiss of death because he can not wait until GP France to compete because he needs to try to get a second GP on his own because I think the sole Skater America spot is going long gone by that point and I think if another US man besides Ilia one/or Jason makes the GPF then that skate will get it. If we get to Nationals with no clear candidate for the 3rd spot then maybe but I would not count on it because all 3 of those men know what at stake here I think one of them is going to manage to do it.
Jacob and Lucas both have won Challengers on the senior level. Lucas was last year's Cranberryll Cup and Jacob won the Tallinn Trophy also last season. It not much but it far better than almost all the US men this quad. Also they have some sort of track record of winning something even if it's mostly on junior level. What body of work argument do Jacob and Lucas have on the senior level that make them favorites for the Olympic team? Jimmy is no more consistent than Maxim. That 3rd spot will have to be decided on what is delivered on the GPS and at Nationals this season and I don’t see anyone having a clear advantage at the moment. Ilia and Jason are the only two who have consistently delivered over many seasons on the senior level. Since none of the other men seem to consistently deliver technically, the difference may come down to who among them is judged best on PCS and on GOE internationally, so that when that person does deliver technically, the pieces of the puzzle will all come together.
Which does not count for the official USFS body of work calculation, unless this season's criteria has changed from last year. The only results from the previous season that count are top 3 at Nationals, top 5 at 4CCs, top 3 at JW and top 8 at Worlds. The rest is from this season. So it's really far too early to say any of them are way behind for the 3rd spot, especially when none of the US men here had a particularly impressive result.Jacob and Lucas both have won Challengers on the senior level. The criteria is the same from the document (page 18). With the results this season too, they're also weighted so that results at a Grand Prix are weighted more heavily than results at a Challenger when calculating the body of work.Which does not count for the official USFS body of work calculation, unless this season's criteria has changed from last year. Jimmy and Jacob were great in the short. But skating last after great skates is hard, and they both looked nervous before their skates.Sigh. Jimmy doesn’t skate well from in front.
jacob costumes never disappoint
I loved his programs. He skates better from behind. I hope his sports therapist is working with him on this. What happened to Jimmy? Everyone was skating new programs, so that’s no excuse. Fear of losing the gold? Very disappointing. I’m also not a fan of either of his programs.
i like that he bothers to wear costumes at all and they're usually unique. no need to be sorry, we're all entitled to our opinionsI hated the pink shirt, sorry to say…
I agree, it must have been hard for them to wait so long. Jimmy in particular looked so sad getting his scores.Jimmy and Jacob were great in the short. But skating last after great skates is hard, and they both looked nervous before their skates.
