2025 Russian Junior Test Skates

Lidiya - Certainly not a bad program, but doesn't hold a candle to her Short. We'll see how this looks later in the season.
The performance itself today was obviously rough because she had multiple bad jump landings plus some other trips and mishaps. The foundation is clearly really strong IMO. There isnt much empty space and lots of interesting movement. I think when she makes it clean, it'll be amazing. I agree though, her SP is next level; THE junior program right now.

ChSq? I think all of them today have been good. It feels weird to watch FS without StSq, TBH! The programs feel a little empty and less structured without one.
That straight line spread eagle did it for me. Too cool. And actually hard to do, but she made it look easy.

Surprisingly found Karartynyan and perhaps Kolesnikov my faves in the boys. Sarnovsky can jump but don't really know if he will ever have anything else. Arseny and Lev were pretty lukewarm as performances go (and the "Depeche Mode" program turned out to be "just aout random hit songs from the 80s and 90s".

Sofia and Lidia in the short just excellent, also Sofia's free was ok. Not a great fan of song medleys, so Lidia did not get my free points. The rest were not really worth commenting.

The jumps were a disaster for Dzepka but it didn't affect her performance at all. If we take out jumps this is the best junior in the world and she would be one of the best seniors as well has it all except a consistent quad (or any jumps today but it is August), although her jumps have wonderful such soft landings. Both her programs will be the highlights of the season.

Lyashenko was good again I don't think the all black costume works, although people in the Cranberry Cup thread have been trying to tell me that costume has absolutely no affect on scoring...

I think it does.

Pretty much. I would say dont count out Prineva but she has a big spender program this season which means she wont be challenging Dzepka this time outside of TES. Not sure anyone else compares. Prineva's spins might be better than Dzepka's she has a full split and almost a perfect needle spin. Hard to beat. But Dzepka's spins are very sophisticated her donut felt so rich in this FS.

and she would be one of the best seniors as well
Without jumps? You could maybe squeeze her into top 5 TBH. Hard to imagine skating without jumps. Would be really interesting actually to see a for-fun solo dance tournament with all our top girls. Dzepka would do great. Funny thing few would agree with me but I could imagine Gorbacheva taking the win on something like that. Barring Adeliia who I'm very bias towards. Well, if you include spins, the latter would definitely take it.

I never like them. Even Kamila's all black a few season's ago I just can't help but see it as lazy. Hm, Sinitsyna's all black worked last season but the dresses had a lot of rhinestones and some mesh sections/subtle design which made it more interesting.

Pleskachova was brilliant. Two great programs. Probably the best form of anyone managed to hold onto all her jumps.
Wouldn't say best form. Lyashenko/Andreeva were the fastest and most stable by far. Then Streltsova barring one fall. Lydia struggled a lot in the FS hope she stabilizes throughout the season. I'm glad she held on to the axel this long its a good sign but she always struggled with funky landings.

I enjoyed watching the junior test skates to witness the next gen of senior skaters. And I’m not disappointed. It’s been few years that senior level is redundant and expected. Already this year with Alisa, Anna L and Dina, the level will increase but I cannot imagine next year… If current girls remain in the game + dzepka, lidia and petrova (maybe gordeeva too) I guess the level would be higher than it has never been the last couple years.
I find lidia already very grown up and “senior”.

Still the juniors will be very interesting this year if everyone remains healthy (kind of worried for Lena)

Alisa for sure. She is the 2nd favourite right now easily even over Sadkova.

Anna's best last season was 195. I dont know if she'll be breaking past like 210 without an axel. She did attempt the 3A last season but didn't land. 4Lo also.

Dina will have to be technically perfect. The axel looks extremely consistent. I dont know if I can really put her as a favourite over someone like Frolova, nevermind Mura even without ultra-c. PCS gap and other things. She didnt have a single StSq4 last season.

I dont know if Lidya is ready to compete with seniors. Dzepka will be challenging podium for sure. Also don't forget Kamila should be back by then. The level will be higher than it ever was in history in a couple years. I dont know about this or next season but definitely by the next Olympics we should have something even above AAA era IMO.
