2025-26 Russian Junior Grand Prix - Stage 1 - Moscow

It starts looking so. If they want to spend all attention to Lena OK, but then the other skaters should go elsewhere.
I don't even know if that's it. Sofia is in a different training group than Lena (afaik), so even if Plushenko were to be completely focused on Lena, there should be other coaches to actually put in the daily work needed.

The shows are definitely a distraction, but it also seems like nobody opens the technical handbooks or thinks about strategy. Not the coaches, certainly not the skaters and also not the parents. This is not the first time an AoP skater stubbornly insisted on repeating a failed jump to their own detriment - And few of them are Lena Kostylevas who can pull that off.

Whatever, save the masterpiece for Nats. Its ok.

I love GP season... next week we get a whole 'nother stage. Juniors, AND then seniors!!

AoP were fine to me like 4 years ago. Now all I see is not caring about non-jumping elements and more more more jumps even if it has no chance of working (look at Aleksakhin). I remember times when Sofia's brother won ISU JGP stage with no quads thanks to being balanced.

Angels of Maldives is incorrigible. I would just give up. No мур-мур—no medals. The anointed has left and the blessings with her. (n)

But I honestly see rather degradation or at least stagnation of their other girls since Kosty entered. Not to mention how precisely Sarnovskaya and her family are repeatedly attacked by Irina.

They were even fine in 23/24. They looked highly promising, in fact, they were junior specialists. (((Something))) has changed since then.

What's more the management lost a lot of time on trying to add two more disciplines. They abandoned the idea of pair skating after only a season, and the attempt of trying to add ice dance was just a reputation loss in the end.

Oh, also on the topic of AoP - The reshuffling of groups that happened a little while ago also helped nobody. I get it, there might have been interpersonal issues but... Dmitri Mikhailov also basically stopped choreographing, despite having done some of the better programs that came out of AoP (I think he didn't even do the Sarnovskiys' programs this season).
Also, most AoP skaters seem to do better when Plushenko isn't constantly popping up at competitions, but oh well (I still wonder how Trusova would have done if Mikhailov or Alekseev had gone to Worlds with her instead of Plushenko).

The girls doing well for their standards are either training in a different location (Anna Liashenko) or too young to be a threat to Kostyleva (Sofia Vagina). I don't doubt that Irina is a big strain on anyone in her vicinity (and the other parents at AoP seem to be difficult too - See Mama Sarnovskaya and Madame Alferova. After all, it was not Irina who just had to make certain comments about Mura when she left. Though, they were all at least smart enough to not do so completely publicly.)
