2025 JGP Ankara Men's Short Program

Random confession because Adagio is playing: I don't really like Hannah and Ye's Adagio FD, it just feels like an emptier version of Umbrellas with just the cool choreo lift added... In fact I am not that happy with like half of our skaters' music choices, which makes me sad
this is me every season thinking about my favourite skaters's programs.

Minkyu : great jumps.. i am not sure I like this Czardas for him. Maybe it's just a question of getting more experience with it but i didn't feel he was skating to the music in the steps... but i doubt this program will be beaten today.

Minkyu I enjoy your skating - Czardas was fun. But I agree - the spins need more practice.

Attaboy, some levels lost and he had to hold onto that flip hard in order to go for the toe but he managed everything, and he is actually fast and smooth enough to do Czardas without being off beat! Let's see how it scores
but he was off beat :) in the steps :) despite being fast and able to do it... just not this time.

Yihe is a nice skater - I just don't get enough of a blues feel from him and I think the judges may be deducting for rotations a bit.

I'm not head over heels in love with his Czardas either but he was definitely nervy throughout, I saw him live at Selections and he actually can skate to the music, he just has to be relaxed enough (at Selections every man was guaranteed two JGP spots so absolutely no pressure). I think this is akin to his choice of Singin' in the Rain last season, he and his team are trying to branch out from his comfort zone. I don't think they have quite found the 'new but fitting' magical choice yet though...

I agree with what you are saying here.

I preferred singing in the rain... yeah... i know... i am odd :)

In some ways, it doesn't matter. He needs to learn all these styles while he is still young and later on, he will pick his own stuff.

See above comment, I knew he was off beat starting from the toe steps but he was trying to catch up right until the end so kudos to the effort. As said above it's mostly nerves, first international competition of the season and all.
