2025 JGP Ankara Women's Free Skate

That's cherry blossom/flower, 櫻 means cherry tree and 花 means flower/blossom. In Japanese kanji 桜 is more widely used but it means the same thing. Japanese reading can be insane because you never know which yomi(way of reading) you're gonna get but 櫻花 I'd read as sakura-hana, literally cherry flower
Thank you for the explanation. I'm a bit confused now though. There is a disambiguation page on wikipedia where a transliteration for these kanji is given as Oka?! Is this wrong?

I edited my answer because I figured out what was going on, so to copy&paste:
Ohhhh I figured out why you got oka with 櫻花, so 櫻 can be read as sakura (kunyomi, lit. meaning-reading) or it can be read as ō (long o, onyomi, lit. sound-reading) while 花 can be read as hana with kunyomi or ka with onyomi, I would not jump to 櫻花 when faced with 'oka' but it is a possible reading
So Japanese distinguishes short and long vowels, as in o said for say 0.1 second is different from o for 0.3 seconds, oka (岡) which is how Oka Mayuko's surname is written has a short o while 櫻 is read as ō (held longer), so as a moderate Japanese speaker I was like huh? when you mentioned cherry blossoms but here we are

off to watching tennis. have fun you guys... i will be here only for a little bit tomorrow as I am going to visit my maman.

First of all, I LOVED Liloy Remeysen wonderful Wednesday Addams program. What a great concept! As I usually find that 99/100 programs are snooze fests this was so much fun to watch. Can't wait to see it again.

I am usually not a great American women's figure skating fan (unless it's Lindsay Thorngren...Lindsay, I miss you!), but I really like Sophie Joline!
She is an Aries, so I am biased, but she has the tech, and she has improved immensely in her skating presentation. Looking forward to see when she nails that program and shoots up to the top of the Seasons Best List!;)

It was quite fun but I can't help comparing it to Kamila's genious and that is of course... incomparable...

I haven seen Kamila's performance as I don't watch exhibitions (because they are utterly boring). But I've checked it out, and yes, that was truly a great performance!

Rink monster was very hungry today, alas. Huge kudos to J. Kim Sr. for an amazing free skate and I was glad to see Gladki have a redemption skate. It was also heartening that this stage had four 3A attempts and 2 quad attempts in the free skate. Junior women are more promising this year.

Just caught up. Yujae Kim had the skate of her life!! She was incredible. I also loved Haruna, Mayuko and Sofia's skates. I really wished Haruna had gotten 3rd but I understand Sophie had a large short program lead. Glad Stefania redeemed her short program mistake. The only predication I care about is Leandra in 5th was correct for me. I enjoy her skating so much, she's one of my favorite juniors.

I've done a quick runthough - some really lovely dresses (Arina, that is gorgeous)and a lot better music than the other sessions so far - the Cranberries! though if I would have liked Leandra to lean into her theme harder, she really could have been skating to any sort of music and two of my fabourite soundtracks, Goodbye Lenin and LOTR (though not Titanic I could love without that song this early in the morning! or anytime really). I think I loved Yujae best, she was beautiful, her style fits the LOTR soundtrack so well and the dress is gorgeous. But I do like the fact that Mayuko in both segments showed she has her own unusual style of presentation and music and commits to it.

I'll go
