2025 Skate to Milano Women's Short Program

I don't see anything here to get our tails in a kink about. Petrosian skated n best and is in first. Solid on the tech and held her own on components. Gubanova skated second best and is in second. Hendrickx -- well, nothing to carp about regarding th scoring.

In the LP Adelia will pull out the quads and separate herself from the others. Anything can happen, of course, but I think all of us would be very surprised -- I certainly would be -- if it came out any other way. Points are points.

Do we know if Petrosyan is going to attempt quads here? It doesn't really make sense to risk it

No chance of quads. The goal is to finish top 5. She likely only needs another 110 to qualify.

I don't think she will take part in another competition until the Olympics, so will start restoring the ultra-c in another month.

Wait, what? Rus GP, Rus Nats?!
This is just my prediction. The ISU and other people on the internet are keeping watch and will screenshot anything that can be used against her. Eteri plays this too well. To rise to the top as she did (as a woman no less) takes a lot of (good nothing underhanded) cunning in such a sport like figure skating (maybe guile is the word). Even Eteri not attending Adelia's performances last season was preparation for this season.

If Adelia does participate, maybe they have a GP stage without a crowd and broadcast on replay.

You are getting paranoid. If she won't compete, which is quite plausible, it will be to minimize the risk of injury as she will become the first irreplacable Eteri girl in history if she qualifies. Not because the fact of praticipating in local competitions is something against her - if it was, she wouldn't be cleared to compete.

I hope Petrosian does pull out all the stops and go for the quads, What's to lose? Even if she makes mistakes she'll still finish in the top five.

But if she lands a quad or two, that could strike a dagger into the hearts of her expected rivals at the Olympics and establish herself as the clear front-runner.

She was injured.. maybe she should focus on staying healthy instead of doing quads early in the season

Adelia can be banned at anytime from here to Milan. Maybe she attends the wrong event and photographed next to a Russian flag I don't know

We don't know if the quads are the reason, Ted and Mark were talking about one skater who was struggling to jump a 3-2 having stress fractures and ligament problems. Serious injuries can happen to even skaters jumping simple content.

I don't mean that quads are the reason but it's more likely for her to fall on a quad than on a triple... I have no idea what kind of injury she had but I think quads also have more impact on joints, bones etc. .. so better safe than sorry.. at least for now

How does Adelia who had this fast, frenetic, complex, precise level 4 step sequence get 7.86 for skating skills, but Loena (with all her errors and interruptions) and Nastya (with her lack of speed and coming to a complete stop at times) level 3 step sequences receive 8.25 for skating skills?

How does that work exactly?
Because the judges propped Loena up after two botched jumps. And many skaters have gotten this boost-including the top Russian girls, back in the day . I would have given Adeliia top PCS by a point or two, low GOE on the axel and lutz, high GOE on the flip combo. Her ending spin was superb, and stepseq best of the day. I would have had her at 70-72, even with the slight lutz error.

Wait, what? Rus GP, Rus Nats?!
I think she'll do some comps to maintain shape, but she won't have the usual pressure to place, except against the other candidate, Gorbacheva. A pretty weird situation, almost artificial, and much easier than other Eteri girls had during olympic seasons. Her priority is to stay healthy and avoid anything precarious, but she seems to handle pressure well.
