2025 Skate to Milano Pairs Free Skate

Lyrics create such strange illusions on ice: the dud is skating with a girl called Julia Silvia, to male singing about Maria. Then they sing together, and you understand that they are Tony and Maria. But then he ends alone to "Maria", and the illusion is back.
gosh.. i thought i had drunk a bit too much wine but reading this, i wonder if i consumed something else... my brain is spinning.

I am never a fan of skaters wearing all white (says the guy whose kid will be wearing all white later on). It blends in with the ice too much. And you end up just seeing disconnected limbs and a head floating around.

And I am not sure "Maria" is the best song for skating to.

But, Julia Sylvia GUNNARSDOTTIR / Manuel PIAZZA (ISL) were good.

They go into the lead of the FS and overall.

White Birch of Paektu

okay...

trying to figure out how we get to rain in your black eye from there.
So I didn't think they were going to admit that they, um, were inspired by a foreign capitalist composer but googled the title to see if anything was said, and an article from 2009 comes up explaining that White Birch of Paektu is the title of a NK film which is another propaganda film glorifying the Kim dynasty (the 'Paektu Bloodline', Paektu is the MR transliteration of 백두, RR Baekdu, which is the name of the highest mountain on the peninsula)... nothing about the composer though

are you seriously thinking there was a composer involved here ? LOL

I do find it interesting that the ISU bio is written as "White Birch of Paektu by Yang Pyong" yet I get literally no results in both English and Korean when I look up Yang Pyong (양평 in Hangeul), but unless it was AI somebody had to put in the bits that are not the exact sections of RIYBE so

Awww. I was there in Boston for that skate! That was an incredible moment. Sorry Meagan... kinda hate the dress though. 😬

Wow. I am so jealous. I would love to go to a Senior Worlds.

Were you able to make a return visit last season?

And can I echo the others that have said that it is good to see you back with us. I always liked you. :)

Although your baby is unwell at the moment, I hope that on the whole you and your family are keeping well.

Anyway, hope you enjoy watching with us.

Google says: The composer of "White Birch of Paektu" is someone Kwak Jong Hwa. The music is very much like RIYBY, but not it is not exactly RIYBY, so it's what they call a cover, basically borrowing or plagiarism, depending on how you want to look at it. :) Borrowing is very common in music.
But then considering the movie is from 2009 and Bosso's album was released in 2016, the question is who borrowed.

Hmm, if South Africa and Vanuatu had skaters here, then this group would be filled with flags with a triangular section on the left...

Nothing like odd late-night musings (how many more flags have triangular sections like that?).

Edit: American Samoa has a triangular section on the right, now that's really odd

With all due respect, I know what sampling is, and there is no way in the nine circles of hell is White Birch of Paektu 'sampling' RIYBE

If you're bold enough, you can call it "homage".

Anna and Martin walk out calmly in their costumes holding hands, and each waving with their spare hand.

When PJ Kwong came to introduce Anna and Martin during the Warm-Up, they were doing their own things separately. So the director had to keep switching between cameras to show both of them.

They showed them again towards the end of the Warm-Up, and they were together this time. The camera zoomed in on them, and I was screaming "ZOOM OUT! THEY ARE LINING UP A THROW!!!" Thankfully the camera did zoom out in time to see it.

Unfortunately, that was the only element we saw them do.

Now we have to wait until the end of the group to see them do more.
