Hannah, I was worried she would fall from her last spin, she was losing balance but somehow she finished it.

Hannah has a fabulous dress and is delightfully smiley. Makes that opening 3Lz-2A-1A happen by doggedly hanging onto the lutz landing - and has to do it again after the 3S before the 2T later on. Lovely extension on the landing of the solo 2A. She's another skater with the catchfoot illusion variation in her camel spin. Slips right off the blade on landing the second 3S, and goes down sideways on the ice, but is up and at it again almost at once. Her first two spins were fantastic, and I imagine that the final spin would have been excellent as well.

Unfortunately, the jumps were a bit uncooperative today and her legs got tired at the end, but it was a decent JGP debut.

She took it with humour though, just seemed to be happy to be here and that's a good mentality to have.

Hannah. Beautiful blue dress. Nice program. A couple of mistakes but she never gave up the performance.

After the first jump it was better but not sure about rotations, esp. 3F+3T requires review IMO.

Kaoruko. Pretty dress and a pretty program. Started with a fall, but the rest all greens and beautiful spins.

Yeah, I'm checking out her scores the amount of tournaments to make it to the JGP is insane (more so last season), but it is a country of 1 billion plus I suppose.

Technically, there are only two competitions serving as JGP qualifiers, but many Chinese skaters are encouraged to compete more (I assume for regional funding purposes and maybe Nationals qualification?).

The problem of early peaking remains nonetheless, as they have to compete in June/early July in best form to get JGP assignments (past results are not taken into account at all, for better or worse).

Kaoruko is a lovely skater, even when the jumps don't entirely work. I liked her 2A with the running edge on landing and then the turn with her free leg swinging through. I think that was a bidirectional ch combo spin; whatever directions she was spinning, it gets a level 4. I enjoyed the Ina Bauer held across the ice in front of the judges, followed by the Kerrigan spiral at the opposite side of the rink. I think the second 2T in the 3Lz-2T-2T might be the first tano jump I've seen today. Beautiful Biellmann to finish. Into the lead!
