Madison Chock & Evan Bates

I had such a fun experience today! I was in town and saw someone wearing a US figure skating jacket, and since I never meet figure skating fans in real life and I was very excited, I told her I like watching skating. It turns out she is friends with Madison’s mom and knows Madison & Evan!!! I was so excited! It might be the closest I come to ever meeting them in person. I told her I’m a big fan, and to tell Madison & Evan that I’m rooting for them at Worlds & hopefully Olympics next year. It was just a fun surprising encounter and it made my day!

Have you ever attended a major event like US Nationals or ISU competitions like Worlds? It is worth the experience. Volunteering to help at such events if one lives close by is an excellent way to see and meet skaters; they tend to be very open, generous and appreciative of fans and audiences. I volunteered at Worlds 2016 in Boston and met so many in person including Maddie and Evan.. they are stunning; Maddie had a smile for everyone. It is a thrill of a lifetime.

A great article/interview from Maya Bagryantseva on Maddie Chock's dress designing and her desire to turn this into a business.

"I want the audience to see not the figure skater's outfit, but the snake on the ice." Madison Chock is now a designer

Maddie is so gifted at drawing. Here is a portrait she did of Olivia Smart.

Also, she says how to contact her for collaborations:

Sports asked Chock how one could become her client if one did not skate with her on the same rink.

"First, write to me by email, it is indicated in the profile on social networks. Describe what you want, for what performance and how urgent it is.

I usually prepare the sketch itself quickly - I need literally a couple of days (of course, if we don’t have a competition at that time). I have hundreds of ideas that I collect as if in a piggy bank, knowing that they will come in handy someday. So during this time I will study the theme of your costume, come up with a concept and color scheme and come back to you for discussion.

For me, the priority is for the athlete to be comfortable skating in this image, my idea is not an end in itself. This suit should suit him, and my sketch should meet the customer's request.

You are probably right that it is the Lenny Kravitz version of American Woman.

"American Girl" was re-released in 1994 as the second single from Petty's Greatest Hits album and peaked at No. 68 on the US Cash Box Top 100.[6]
