2025 Cup of China Men's Free Skate

Tomoki is doing well on hitting most of his technical elements, but his basic skating appears small and doesn’t have a lot of ice coverage. Yikes, and that SLOW spin does not look good! This is such a generic song cover too and doesn’t make his program memorable.

So, I think Tomoki is going to be the one skater who might challenge Andrew for the third spot on team USA this year. The judges like Andrew more ( fair because of SS, overall quality and performance level) but Tomoki's been uncharacteristically steady this year. Good competition for him. I can't remember when he's skated better.

oh that's HUGE, the fight for the third spot for Team USA is soooo intense now

What a great skate! Tomoki has really improved so much by training in Japan, he's less chaotic and has really improved with holding his free leg on his jump landings. He brings such joy and energy to the ice, which you could really see in the steps. His spins are still a little rough, but he acknowledged that in the mixed zone and he got better levels in the free than in the short. I also love a bilingual king.

Has he ever been this clean? I was waiting to see his split jump, because there are not many men who can do it on that level and did not get disappointed.
